they are saying expect aftershocks in the 4.5+ range for the next 5 days or so.

We definitely felt it in South Orange County. It gave our house a pretty good shaking. Glad all of you guys in San Diego are ok.

Big difference in the earthquake building codes here and those in Haiti.

for those in the area...please stay safe.
I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

I'll report each aftershock that I feel, or if there's any further damage to my property (knock on wood).

EDIT: Just in class today I felt two very minute rumbles. They both lasted for only a second, though no one else seemed to have felt them. I guess those are just the minor ones. But the one earlier this morning lasted for nearly a minute; if it was enough to wake me up and make my heart race, then *** ****.

                  Be safe everyone.

I couldn't imagine a one minute shaker, I hated the 15 second one in '89. I remember sleeping with my shoes on that night, and having them next to my bed for months.

That's strange. I'm almost right on top of the epicenter, just due north and it's been a fairly quiet day with a couple jolts, but nothing lasting a minute.

I could be exaggerating the time, but I specifically remember putting on a movie to fall asleep last night, and I remember waking up to the earthquake during an action scene in the movie, where from beginning to end of the shake that I felt it seemed to have lasted nearly a minute. Maybe it was more like 40 seconds, but when I was lying in bed terrified, it felt really long.

And it could have been because I was seven stories up that I felt it, as it probably rocked the building a bit more. Again, I'll let you know if I feel anything else and you can let me know the same. I just hope they end soon. Knowing that this massive blue ball actually experiences regional tremors kind of freaks me out, especially when I'm so high up.

EDIT: Oh, and by "this morning" I mean at 4:30 AM, not the really small second-long rumbles that I felt between 10:00 and 11:00.

LOL, I did the same thing in '89.. And everytime there was an aftershock, I jumped out of bed and ran for the doorway. I probably slept a grand total of 15 minutes that first night.

Weird because you're almost 200 miles away from the epicenter.

I've stopped watching CNN and am going on with my life now. Nothing more to report, except my blessings.

The aftershocks can come from other places besides the original epicenter as the other faultlines and things settle after the initial jolt.

We're not that far away from the epicenter. Plus the aftershocks have been following the Elsinore fault line and the other fault lines adjacent to it (there are a couple in the Los Angeles Area).

I just felt an aftershock that went off an on for 70 seconds (I timed it this time). A major shake with a few minor shakes afterward.
