Come back to me when your thread talks about that woman that won't slide in to the middle of the train so everyone else can get in.
Exactly. Or the person who just HAS to get out of the train first and can't wait for the wave of people to shuffle out before yelling EXCUSE ME like there's a jungle cat chasing them down.

    NYC Transit: It's serious business.

Most of the time if I am on a bus or train and there is an older woman (50 or so and up) standing near me I'll offer my seat. It just seems like the right thing to do.

It kinda makes my conscience feel better, too.

I agree. That's why I was both amazed, and saddened, when about a month ago I had gone to a walk-in clinic to have my sore foot looked at. I had just thought it was a sprained foot, but after the x-rays I was told that it was broken. So the doctor gave me crutches and a couple prescriptions, along with a referral to an orthopedist, and sent me on my way. As I was leaving the crowded waiting room and heading for the door, two teenage boys got up from their seats without any provocation and opened the doors for me and held them open so I could leave. I was stunned. I said "Thank You" and they just said "No problem man. Get better soon."

I was amazed that two random teenagers would do something like that for a complete stranger, yet at the same time completely saddened that something like that would amaze me.

A couple of years ago, I was on a train to Manhattan for a meeting I had in our NYC office that day and had apparently overcompensated for my breakfast as my blood sugar suddenly dropped precipitously. I had forgotten my glucose tablets at home and was having trouble walking without stumbling and nearly falling down out on 42nd street in Manhattan. Out of nowhere, two people in business suits stopped me, sat me down, went and got me a breakfast sandwich and a bottle of orange juice from a street vendor and sat there until my blood sugar returned to normal. When I was able to get up and move around again, I reached into my wallet to get some money to pay them back (as a sandwich and a large bottle of OJ in Manhattan isn't just a few bucks) and they said "Don't worry about it. We're just glad to see your okay. Have a good day." I was again quite stunned but it did make me smile to know that there still are good people in this world who will help out a complete stranger and not expect anything in return. As a result, I try and help out others whenever I can. It's just the right thing to do.

come on man, there is no need to be ignorant. just because we dont believe in chivalry dont mean we cant get a woman.

I'm assuming the "grown *** men" who don't offer their seats in this thread, also don't offer them in other scenarios?

For example, you're at a small gathering and there's only one person standing and not sitting down. Said person is a female, do you not offer her your seat?
          hell no.

thats cool man. i would do the same things if i were the person around you in either of those situations. but the topic is based on chivalry, and im not going out my way for any female.

now if im walking down the street and i see that a woman (young or old) has fallen down, im gonna help her up cuz i would do the same if it was man that fell down also.
"on hoping there is a PSN flash sale before Valentine's Day"
Man there are no flashers... now what are we going to do for vd
I'm sure there's plenty of prostitutes you could pay if you really want vd.
yea but will they take psn cards
Depends on what area of a hooker you would use to redeem them.

          lol

There are two simple facts here:

            1. Being a gentleman is NOT reserved to being from the South. Stop pretending it is and stop believing it. This is one of the most ridiculous things I've ever read on OS.

            2. Not every boy is raised the same no matter what region they were born in. You find good people in the North and bad people in the North. You find good people in the South and bad people in the South. No region is more special than the other. The belief that regions have more manners, respect, politeness or the complete vice versa is utter crap. People are people and they are raised as they are raised. Region or any other parameter used to differentiate between human beings of the same planet has nothing to do with it. Nothing.

And Husker_OS, I'm not trying to single you out, but your comment covered a lot of what I've been reading here on OS lately. I hoped it would end, but it really looks like members are pulling this card more and more lately. I don't like it. Don't disappoint me further, OS.
Couldn't agree more. Since insults and personal attacks are not tolerated at OS and I see more than a few in this thread, it's closed. One day OS will be mature enough to handle a discussion like this without the insults and stereotypes. Today isn't the day.
