Agreed. Complacency is what caused 9/11. Hopefully history will not repeat itself.

And domestic terrorism is just as much of a threat if not bigger then Al Qaeda is. Look at the recent events. Ft. Hood shooting, IRS crash, Jihad Jane incidents.

Exactly, Benjamin Franklin once said " Those who give up a little bit of freedom for Security deserve neither".

That Being Said, We will get hit again, people will die, and we will once again have to rethink our Security.

Someday there's going to be another terrorist attack on US soil. It's bound to happen at some point. I just hope it isn't anytime soon.

Definitively. Like I said they only have to get lucky once to succeed. The Detroit Christmas Day attempted plane bombing was a miracle the terrorist was an idiot. It shows we still have a lot of holes in our security. It's just a matter of time.

Common sense is our number 1 tool for protection though. Common sense was not used in the recent Christmas Day failed attempt.

Please be aware, but don't live in fear. For living in fear means they've already won.

Am I the only one that was slightly concerned that 2 people could sneak through Secret Service into a dinner with the president? What if they had been a "Mr and Mrs. Smith" couple?

I lean toward countryboy's way of thought. Fear is a powerful tool that can be used to influence large masses of people. This goes for terrorists, politicians, etc.

US Official do a pretty good job at protecting this country. They are always foiling some plan of AL Qaeda. Also they kinda hit you with a sling shot and a rock. It can still take out people, but the chances of doing real damage is slim. The Towers was probably something that took years and years to plan and every thing had to go right which it did. I am sure they have something planned to happen some day, but I don't care. Violence is about life. When it is your time go it is your time to go.

What I feel for bad are the ones that got away from that group and are here in this Country and if something does happen again they are attacked. I have some friends from Afghanistan and they are really nice people, but even today some people still look at them as a terrorist.

Some good posts in here. I agree with the general sentiment. Security must not come at the cost of freedom. Aside from what people have already said, there is this: if you give up freedom for security, you make it easy for big money/gov't to take away your freedom by manipulating your perception of security.

Cracking down domestically does not curb terrorism. Terrorism stems from foreign policy.

I won't go any further than that.
