Re: Operation Sports Official Tattoo Thread

With tattoos, I think a portrait of a lost loved one is a MUCH more fitting tribute than just text. I forget who it was, but another poster in this very thread had a portrait of his father (whom he also lost) tattooed on him and it looks fantastic. But then again, I'm just not into text based tattoos (no matter the subject matter) as they always remind me of the chick-style-quotes-on-ribcage type things that are popular with younger girls these days. Now, if the text was more of a small part of a full sleeve it would be different, but as a standalone piece I seriously think a portrait would be way cooler and a million times more original.

This is just my personal opinion as far as TATTOOS only are concerned. In the end only YOU know what you really want. All I ask is that you seriously consider the portrait idea. There are several very good portrait artists in your area that would do an amazing job on it.

EDIT- The poster in question was funky_chicken, post #89 in this thread.

I would be very cautious because portraits are very hit or miss. You really have to trust your artist to do a good job.

This is true, but there are several artists that specialize in portraits in his general area that are very good.

My artist did a portrait of my friends deceased father on his chest an it came out amazing.
