 Re: Dudes and flip flops

Flip flops have no back, which is why they flip and flop when you walk. Were as sandals have a back and pretty much more of a support structure.Comment

 Re: Dudes and flip flops

i've always thought sandals were more '' locked '' onto you feet & flip flops were really loose , only held on by clenching your big toe to the 2nd toeMy thoughts exactly. I always knew women would look at each other and judge the other by what they were wearing but never knew it happened among men, especially with sandals. Good thing I don't care what others think because it might make me change my choice on footwear when I want to be nice in comfortable in a situation that I am able to wear them...

I also learned in this thread that apparently the term metrosexual has all of a sudden been replaced with moist?

Edit: Also, out of curiosity, could someone differentiate for me the difference between flip flops and sandals as they are being refereed to in this thread? I've always been a little confused.
if i had to wear either i'd go with jesus sandalsLast edited by ruserl88; 04-21-2010, 09:24 PM.Comment

 Re: Dudes and flip flops

I imagine most of this is a climate thing.

I put my money on the fact that most people that are anti-flip flop live up north and those that are pro-flop flop live down south.

From my experience in California and now Texas, it is more common to see someone in sandals than without sandals out shopping or at a restaurant in the summer months. When the temperature is consistently hovering around 95 with 90+ percent humidity for five straight months, we do anything we can to stay as cool as possible. Wearing socks and shoes does nothing to help.

I imagine up north where the summers aren't nearly as brutal that it's probably not nearly as common.

I imagine if I started a post saying that people wearing big, thick, puffy jackets were stupid/gay/etc. I would be heckled from those that experience brutal winters, but here in Houston, we get about 5 to 6 serious weeks of winter a year so seeing this is just not nearly as common...people freak out here when it drops below freezing 4 or 5 days out of the year (though this year was an exception).

I'd like to hear the locations of those from both sides of the argument.Comment

 Re: Dudes and flip flops

I honestly don't think that makes a difference though. I have lived in all climates: Montana, New Mexico, Pennsylvania and summer is summer regardless, especially when it comes to climate since the weather patterns are relative to the area. I never once hesitated at wearing sandals on a nice summer day up north.

I honestly have no idea why some are against wearing sandals, and as I mentioned earlier, I never even thought it was a discussion point (clearly I was wrong on that) but I really don't think the climate is the issue.Comment

 Re: Dudes and flip flops

I saw about a million guys wearing sandals or flip flops at Wrigley field just about every time I have been there. Not to mention Wrigley-ville afterwards.Yeah it has to be a regional thing. Because in Chicago I only seen females wearing flip flops or sandals. All the dudes were wearing air force ones or timberlands. Yeah you read it right, dudes in the Chi wear timbs even during the summer.

Just like you don't see dudes wearing skinny jeans in chicago either.Comment

 Re: Dudes and flip flops

IDK, no offence but, that seems like more of a personal problem to me.Clearing some things up:
-I didn't mean to insinuate in any way that if you wear flip flops you're gay. Anybody that got that out of my original post, I apologize. "Be a man, wear regular shoes" was me typing without thinking. My bad.

-Regarding "why are you staring at a guy's feet": it's like when you smell something gross and you kind of can't stop smelling it. I want to look away, but I can't. Like a car wreck.

-The whole underlying theme of this thread is probably, and I'm just realizing this now, that feet gross the hell out of me. My 2K17 Boston Celtics MyLeague My 2K17 Boston Celtics MyLeague

 Re: Dudes and flip flops

It's been over 10 years since I took Psychology in college so, I don't remember anything about feet.

Have you ever had a dream about feet? If so, it doesn't appear to be all bad.
