I still buy CD's every month or so. I don't know why, but I like having the case and the booklet and the hard copy of the disk. There is something special about buying a new CD, opening it up, and thumbing through the booklet while giving it a first listen. It's also nice to have a hard copy as I am totally screwed if my hard drive crashes.

I'm the same way, especially with the lyrics and who plays what on a specific track, especially if there are guest musicians on an album.

I need to break the habit though. Too many artists offer free extra crap when you buy it online compared to when you buy it in store that you end up missing out by putting forth more effort.

However, I'm already looking forward to stopping off at Best Buy at lunch in a few weeks and picking up the new Black Keys CD.

I find a lot of times, Amazon will have pre-orders of new releases are lower than iTunes and sometimes that is even true for older releases. If a band is doing a special edition type thing that I just have to have, I'll order it through their website. A lot of smaller artists do some kind of special thing with new releases (ie: limited number of autographs, etc) and I'm a sucker for collecting stuff, so I gotta get it haha.

Well that is the maximum penalty. But you would likely only get jail time if you were running some big bootleg dvd scheme.

Last CD I purchased was Nas' last album back in 2008. I'm looking forward to purchasing Distant Relatives by Nas and Damian Marley, Recovery by Eminem and Good *** Job by Kanye. Everything else, I download.

Last CD I bought was Eminem's Relapse, then the next week I bought a 120GB iPod Classic and haven't bought a CD since. Last movie? I bought Reservoir Dogs on Bluray for $15 like 2 days ago. Last DVD? Death Proof for $3.99.

Yeah. They don't care about just downloading movies or music or whatever. I mean they care, but there are millions of people that do that. There's no way they're going to prosecute every one of them or even attempt to. All they care about is the major **** like you mentioned.

If you use torrents then yeah, you'll have a chance at getting caught.

Basically a calling card if you're getting copyrighted material. Usenet and newsgroups---completely private so "in theory" they can't come after you.

Never realized Best Buy had such a good CD selection. At least better then Wal Mart. They had 5 of these and a lot of CD's from artist that aren't that big that came out 5+ years ago

I almost asked why you were buying CD's at Wal-Mart, since they don't sell anything with the Parental Advisory sticker on it, but then I saw you bought a country CD and figured swearing probably isn't a problem on those.

I do hate that Wal-Mart policy, though. Given that our town has a Wal-Mart and nothing else, and the next closest place that sells anything electronic is 25 miles away.

It's been a very long time. I haven't bought a cd for myself since I was 16 or 17 but, I've done a lot of downloading for myself . I've bought some for girlfriends and family members but, that is about it. I haven't bought movie since I was about 14 or 15 for anyone(including me).

Last time I bought a cd though was around Christmas. I think it was a Beyonce or Keysha Cole(probably didn't spell her first name right) cd.

Edit: ^ Also agreed on the Wal-Mart policy on cd's. One of the very few reasons you'll ever see me in K-mart.

I used to buy movies all the time before my daughter was born, but in the last 3 years, the only movies I've bought are Barney/Elmo/Disney/Pixar/Dreamworks flicks. I bought Avatar on blue ray recently, but God only knows when I'll actually have 3 hours of time to watch it (and actually WANT to spend those free hours in front of the TV). Before that, it just might have been over 3 years ago.

With Netflix on demand, I don't even know to be completely honest. Everything is available to be watched so freely now. I love it.
