Re: When I was growing up...
And the congregation said....AMEN. Preach on, Preach on.
Although, there are a few kids that know when to be seen and not heard. They'd survive just fine in the 80s.
My mom had eyes and ears all over my town. I was too scared to try anything foolish. Everyone had permission to beat me on sight. And then you'd get it when you got home.
The worst was having to get your own switch for your whipping. And then hear the phrase...."this is gonna hurt me more than it's gonna hurt you" followed by "Stop crying before I give you something to cry about"''
Those were the days.Last edited by Bighoff; 05-15-2010, 06:35 PM.I've heard this "patience is a virtue" junk all my life. I'm happy to say I have no virtue, no scruples, and no desire to wait too long for anything. In my humble opinion instant gratification takes too long!

Re: When I was growing up...
^^^agreed for me...back in the day, I hated being contained indoors. Whiffle ball, sandlot baseball, football at the park, basketball, or just hanging out with friends roaming the streets...being indoors was like being in jail.
Nowadays, the idea of hanging with friends is hooking up via facebook or texting. God forbid you actually go out with friends and roam the streets and get involved in a little mischief.I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

I know you are a little younger than me. But man even in high school I loved Thunder Cats and Voltron. Those were some great shows! When I was a little younger ****ing He Man rocked. I had the Voltron lions and He Man toys. Never had the Thunder Cats though.Comment

Re: When I was growing up...
I watched he-man a few times but could never get into it. Best action cartoon for me as a kid growing up hands down was Dragonball Z followed by Batman and then probably Transformers. Oh how I loved my batman cartoons and I had a lot of his toys. I watched all the super hero cartoons when I was little like X-men, spiderman, superman, etc.
I couldn't get enough of the superhero cartoons but, my favorite had to batman because, he had the bad *** car toys along with the bad *** everything else lol.Originally posted by WatsonTigerOne out of 7 billion, and we still tagged your ***.Comment

Re: When I was growing up...
i don't mind being an adult in these times but i wouldn't want to be a kid nowadays . it seems to me they have lost their innocence before they even get to elementary school . as far as cartoons , scooby & the smurfs were alright but if i had south park & family guy back in the day would have been alright by meComment

Re: When I was growing up...
I like the old 80's cartoons as much as anyone, but imo Flapjack, Chowder, Adventure Time and Invader Zim are right up there. My kids look at Ben 10 and Generator R.E.X. the same way I looked at Thundercats and Voltron.PS: You guys are great.

Re: When I was growing up...
I was just telling my wife last night. Dont kids ride bikes anymore? When I was a kid you damn near couldn't drive down my street with all the kids riding bikes on the street. We had jumps and all kinds of crap going down. In the neighborhood I live now, there are prob 15-20 kids between 6 and 17 and I haven't seen one of them even walk down the street outside of getting off the school bus or something.
It def. is different now.
1 thing I will say though is that the facebooks, twitter, computers are keeping the generations more "connected" basically my "teenage kids"(when i have kids) will be a little more intune to me than I was to my mom and dad. Computers will be a common ground I believe unless something else comes out.
some people with kids could prob confirm or deny this better.Comment

Re: When I was growing up...
G Force rocked good call there. Ronnie Shell did the voice for Keith, he was my dad's friend, so I would talk to him about it when I was a kid. Gatcheman (Spelling?) was the same cartoon, just a little more graphic and so was G Force. Ronnie did the voice for Battle of the Planets.Comment
