    You're at a public park.

I'm not trying to sound all harsh about it but you don't really have any greater claim on the monkey bars than they do. And I know it'd be nice if they didn't curse (or just use words you object to...we've never qualified what kind of language we're talking about here), you know that's not gonna happen everywhere you take your kid.

So if your teenage son or daughter (and they are like 18, and 19 year olds mind you) hang out at a kiddie playground saying mother effer every 20 seconds you wouldn't have any problem with your kids acting this way?

I said it earlier...words only have the power which the listener gives them.

My perspective on this has alot to do with being raised around a variety of harsh language and being immune to it. Then watching the more practical approach to parenting where certian words/actions are taught to be adult only.

Carried out to it's extreme, would a parent in the same park have the moral right to ask people not to smoke because their kids were there also? To not show public displays of affection? Not to wear different religous symbols?Same sex couples? Mixed race couples?

I don't think it's the worlds responsibility to live up to whatever parenting standard is desired. Better to inform your kid than think I'll conform for your kid.

Good point. Cussing around me when I was young didnt really affect me. I was already taught and heard those words so they were nothing new

My boys and my brother all firmly set the adult words and kids words early on instead of expecting the world to co-operate and it's worked out great for all those kids.

It's not like I try to cuss in front of kids but it still amazes me the places I'm at and parents expect other adults to go G-rated because they want to bring their kids.
I'm in this line of thinking too.

When I was young I heard a lot of swearing but I was smart enough to know the situations in which you do or don't use those words.

IMO it's somewhat pointless to prevent a kid from hearing/learning those words because eventually they're going to hear them and learn them anyways.

              Here are mine:

              - I never start a franchise on a hockey video game until the rosters are as accurate as possible
              - I wash every dish twice
              - Whenever someone asks how I'm doing I reply, "Good" but I never ask how they're doing because I don't think they'll answer
              - I check my phone before I go to bed
              - I double check to make sure the door is locked two seconds after locking it
              - I don't get mad when someone drives slow on the road as I see no reason for it
              - I don't get mad when someone cuts in front of me because it's not worth getting mad at a problem that is resolved in two seconds
              - I play sports video games with the maximum game length possible
              - I always hold the door open for strangers
              - Always get Sweet 'n Sour sauce with McDonald's nuggets

I don't know how many people will agree with these two rules, but here ya go:

                  1. Don't look at another woman more than once.
                  2. Don't stare at another woman.

Both rules are followed regardless of how attractive a woman is or what setting I'm in. One of my goals is to be faithful to my wife in mind and body.

I dont know if thats being faithful if your mind really wants to look. Seems more like sadism.

Yes, it definitely sounds like I'm obtaining sexual pleasure by inflicting harm (physical or psychological) on others.
