I was an army recruiter, and come from an Air Force Family. I was stationed in Hawaii and a childhood friend was stationed there with me, though he was Coast Guard. They seem a little hardcore, like when I would "Get in trouble" I would do some push ups and maybe get a counseling,etc. This dude got accused of hooking up with a married chick and they locked him on the boat for like a month and a half man. He lost weight im like wtf, thats crazy.

My sister just went into the Army, she didn't have the option to shop around as she only has a GED, if she had, I would have pushed her into the Air Force. From my perspective, it has the least "military crap" yet has the same, if not better benefits with the better housing, quality of life, etc.

My thought exactly. I have worked with some Air Force guys have have some friends in the AF and they said it is not nearly as much BS as the other military branches deal with.

For all those claiming AF has the hottest women of any branch....I have been unable to substantiate that with any photographic evidence.

I think the AF has the most women so it would make sense they have the hottest ones, But I would agree that the AF and the Navy has pretty hot women. But you will see hot women in every branch along with donkeys in every branch. I knew really hot girls in all the branches...

I spent 5 years in the Air Force and loved it for the most part. I spent my first assignment at Macdill, AFb in Tampa, Florida and it was lovely. My job was medical supply which wasn't too bad. I spent my last assignment at Yokota AB Japan. However I got to go to Texas, Virginia, and Aviano AB Italy. Spent about 18 months on the Honor Guard team (the people who do military colors, weddings, and funerals). My best advice to you is to find out as much as you can can there are some things that people get in trouble for like hooking up with married people, financial irresponsibility, getting sunburned etc. Just go out and enjoy it man because it goes by quick. Great choice. Pick a good AFSC (Air Force Specialty Code)as you'll be stuck with it for a while! Don't buy into the hype about the Wish List. You'll go the exact opposite of all of the bases you put down. BTW, are you gonna take a quick ship out job or are you gonna do DEP? It might be better to possibly wait a bit for a good job. I had to wait 9 months for a weather opening, but it was worth it. Again, congrats! You made the best service choice of all! I am biased though! LOL! "Off we go...."

you know whats funny about that wish list thing, I was stationed 3 places, they were the top 3 on my "wishlist". My top place was Jersey where Im from, then Virginia, and then Texas. and my first "Overseas" choice was Hawaii, then Alaska and I think back then they had Panama or something near south America I just thought sounded cool.

I went to Va right out of basic, then went to Hawaii from there for 3 1/2 years, then I finished up as a recruiter in Jersey. Totally random, Im like 99.9% certain it just worked out that way and nobody looked at my wishlist ever again the second I left MEPS, but it was a cool story when I was a recruiter lol

The AF promotes slow as he'll though. I'm in a small joint service community. Intel and I can tell you within our community, ther are AF people who've been in as long as me(10 years this summer) and while I'm waiting to hear the results of the E-7 board. (Navy) they are still E-5s. That would be the only "knock" I would mention.

That said congrats Dan on your choice to serve. Congrats to you to Steve seems like your son has become quite a stand up young man. I only hope he is a skins fan unlike his father!

One thing I should mention is that my dad was an officer the entire time as opposed to an enlisted soldier, so his experience could have been better than your typical enlisted guy. I think he rose as high as Captain before quitting to work at US Airways (US Air at the time) in 1992. He served from the early 1980s until 1992 and participated in Operation Just Cause and the Persian Gulf War.

I live a few miles from Langley AFB. I have never been aware of any "hotties" in Air Force uniforms. Not saying there aren't...I just haven't seen it.

LMAO that happens a lot. sounds similar to me. I thought I would see the world also, and go to all these different ports while in the Navy.

Yeah...they sent me that ****-hole Iraq. And I've been to Rhode Island, Illinois, North Carolina, and Virginia.

Guess I lucked out.....Western Pacific (West-Pac) FTW!!!!

Thailand, Hong Kong, S. Korea, Australia, Philippines, Hawaii, Guam, Japan, Singapore..........to name a few!
