Quick question, what are you guys running in? I've been running in New Balance 993s, but now they have holes in them. I run 2 miles a couple times during the week, then run 3 miles once every weekend. Do you guys get fitted for new running shoes in local running stores? I'm thinking of Nike or Asics. Thanks in advance.

Re: OS Running Thread
I'm running in adidas boost 2.0s. Probably going to have to retire them soon since I've been running on them since April. Probably the best running shoes I've used. Good for my wide foot, although pinched a bit in the middle the first few runs, but it's fine now. Good for both long and short runs.Comment

Re: OS Running Thread
I ordered some Nike Flyknit 4.0's. They'll be here on saturday. They got rated the #1 shoe by Runners World.

Re: OS Running Thread
Finished my 13th marathon with a time of 2:50. Same course as last year but two minutes slower. Starting temp was 71 degrees (at 4:30 am) and heated up from there.
Going to change up my training a bit for next time (drop a few lbs and add in more speed). Next is a half in April so speed time!
Here is me rocking the finish, excuse my **** eating grin.Attached FilesComment

As someone who sticks to half marathons and more adventure races I'm always impressed by those who stick it out and grind out marathons.I won't ask for Christmas or birthday gifts if you subscribe to the Operation Sports Newsletter (Not Just Another Roster Update). I write it, and it hits your inbox every Friday morning (for freeeeeee). We also have an official OS Discord you can now join.Comment

The missus also ran it, pulling in a 3:22 time. Pretty good for having our first child 8 months ago.Comment

Re: OS Running Thread
Thanks for the inspiration, Macho. Got in 8 miles today; snow was falling throughout the run (not sticking to the ground yet) which was actually a lot of fun to run in.
Finished in 1:15.30. Wound up running close to 25 miles this week and also logged 16 on my bike.
Next week is week three of adding an extra mile to my long runs, so I'll be aiming for 9 miles. It'll be interesting when I drop down to 7 in two weeks to see how my times compare.Currently Playing:

Re: OS Running Thread
Just got back from my 9-mile run. It was a bit of a challenge, but that's due to me riding 25 miles on my bike the day before (the weather was outstanding this weekend).
Still, was able to finish in 1:24.22. Didn't get as many total miles as last week, but that's due to me doing a couple of shorter runs. I believe I finished the week at 21 miles.
Next week I'll drop my long run back down to 6 miles. I'm really curious to see how much time I can shave off my previous PR.Currently Playing:

Re: OS Running Thread
Thanks, Scott! I run at a comfortable to just above comfortable pace most of the time. I have long legs and could likely go faster, but I found that gait with longer strides doesn't work well for me. So, I'm more of a shuffler (I've read that a lot of people over 6 feet tend to run this way) and it works for me.
4 miles is nothing to scoff at! Both your time and distance (if you choose to run longer and there's nothing that says you have to. I can honestly say I have zero intentions of ever running more than a half-marathon and even then, I'm content with 3-6 mile runs for a majority of my training) will improve the longer you stay on a consistent schedule.
I've seen your posts in the Fitness Challenge thread so I know you are putting the work in. At the end of the day that's really all that matters is that we're out there exercising instead of sitting on the sofa.Currently Playing:
