    Re: OS Running Thread

    Novice question:

I've been running about two miles several times a week pretty consistently of late. I noticed at the end of my run the other day that I lost a small chunk of the sole of my shoe near the heel. The shoes are otherwise in pretty good shape. Can I hurt anything by still running in them?

Been up to 4.5 miles straight for the past week now. Probably won't get much longer than that for awhile given the limits of the trail and our lunch hour. We're around 9-10 minute miles but she wants to put more exercise "breaks" (break my ***) in the middle since that's more beneficial than getting faster times right now, especially when it's 80, 90+ and humid lately.

Do you feel a difference in the shoe when your foot strikes the ground? I'd probably err on the side of caution and look at replacing the shoes sooner than later.

I don't feel a difference when running, but my heel has been a tad sore of late. Probably better safe than sorry to go with a new pair.

What incline on the treadmill would be somewhat equivalent to running outside? I've been running a 5k each day on .5 incline, trying to make the move to outside once the weather clears

Ran a 2:45 marathon yesterday in Titusville, PA. good enough to win! Even got a workout bag and mug.

Wow! That's a crazy fast time, MM. Congrats on the win. Might have to turn pro soon.
