This is true, but the more you draw your weapon, the chances of a Negligent Discharges increase, just look at that Oakland cop

I obviously don't know you, but I think if you were in that situation with a gun drawn on you, and were told to freeze, you would freeze.

I can't definitively answer that question myself either but I doubt my response would be better than that if a cop just said "hey i'm a cop. freeze" without a gun pointed at me

This is why a cop tells you to put your hands and 10 and 2 from a distance, usually around your gas tank. Or your rear bumper.

Only when you feel threatened. Car Full of Grannies = Ok. Car Full of Gang Bangers = Pull your gun or call for backup.

I might be more inclined to pull on the car full of grannies. My grandma is a mean shot. All joking aside, I do see your point. I guess it just comes down to protocol. Which I don't know what it is now days. When I went to the academy it was not protocol to draw during a traffic stop.

That is because YOU'RE the one doing the unholstering.

If I am pulled over, and I see a cop take out his gun, my *** will be in full-on clenched mode.

My job is to ensure the safety of myself, my fellow Officers, and civilians.

You need to realize that unholstering a weapon is an aspect of ensuring safety.

So far people fail to see that point of view.

And guys, please understand that the last thing 99.99999999999% of cops want to do is shoot you.

Exactly. We're like offensive linemen. We don't want to be in the newspaper because 99.9% of the time it's for something negative.

We're not in the newspaper when we arrest somebody who just robbed a bank. If we mess up our picture is on the front page and all over the news.

All we want to do is keep the peace. I don't want to pull my weapon, I don't want to have to physical subdue somebody, I don't want to arrest people, etc.

But that's not reality.

It's part of our job. I'm criticized daily. Racists constantly bash me and I'm called names by people in the community every single day.

They don't know me but they hate cops.

It's just how it is

I don't hold it against them nor do I let it spark emotions which might take over a situation. More is expected out of us.

A smaller example would be the mods of this site. They have powers which others don't, and some are just going to question the decisions they make with that power.
