    Re: OS Weight Loss 2011

Started out yesterday at 283.3 and today I hopped on in the morning and weighed 280.3

Worked on upper body yesterday. Also, had a 60z chicken breast at noon with 1 cup brown rice and some salad.

Fish and salad at night and I was really full.

    Need to keep rolling.

Did kind of a hacked together workout last night. 30 minutes of Wii Sports Tennis (intensely, I might add), and any time I lost a point, I had to do jumping jacks until the next point. Good exercise or not, it kicked my ***.

Lol that is pretty cool imo. Any way to get moving and burn more cals does the job, doesn't have to be "hardcore" just has to get your heart rate up and the sweat pouring.

If anyone is interested in a pretty decent health and fitness podcast The Fit Cast is pretty decent. http://thefitcast.com/

It's funny too because the main guy that runs it Kevin is a huge gaming nerd as well so it kinda covers two of my main hobbies in one.

God, I wish it would warm up for good. I NEED to get out running. Freakin Maine weather. It's been warming up lately, and then BOOM, 10 inches of snow yesterday.

I've been doing kettlebells for cardio, but i've been dealing with pain in my right shoulder, which throws kettlebells out. I've been stuck at 195 (down from 210) for 2 weeks. I'm happy I haven't gained, as my diet hasn't been great. Too many drunken family get togethers I suppose

Once the summer hits, i'm pumped to get full swing into a running routine.

For example: On a normal day (pre-diet) I would have eat 2 packs of oatmeal for breakfast, a footlong sub and chips for lunch and a nice dinner (usually grabbing seconds). Now, I'm going to only eat one pack of oatmeal, a 6 inch sub and about half of what I would normally eat for dinner and under no circumstances will I get seconds.

If I go out to eat, I'm just going to ask for a To-Go Box as soon as my food arrives so, I can immediately put half away for later. I'm also going to cut out alcohol and sweets. Alcohol shouldn't be a problem because I rarely drink but, I'm going to really miss my cereals.

I weighed around 225 this morning and my goal is to get down to 190-195 before the summer.
Just an update on my late post from 2/8...

I'm down to 214 and basically all I've done is watch my portions. I still have an occasional bowl of cereal or snack during the week and use the weekend as my "cheat day". The only activities I do are: play basketball three times a week and do yard work on the weekend. That's it. Hopefully, I can keep this pace up and get to my goal this summer

                      Re: OS Weight Loss 2011

I'm at 225 right now. I'm not even sure what my last update was, but I'm guessing 230, so at least I'm down 5 lbs even if I'm not really trying. I decided that in May I'll actually try more. I still live with my roommate for now and her obsession for restaurants makes it virtually impossible to lose weight (I'm one of these people that can't go out to eat and get something healthy). So in May I'll be on my own and even though she's hinted at coming over to pick me up for restaurants anyway, that would only be for a couple months until she goes to NYC. I don't go out to eat with anyone else, the only food issue I would have on my own is pizza.

I'm not going to do any specific diet, just going to calculate calories in my head (which really isn't that hard) and make sure I keep it around 2200 or lower. I wouldn't be surprised to get down to 210 by christmas, which would be awesome, depending of course on the soon to be ex roommate.

Just an example of how much living with her has affected my weight: She takes 10+ day vacations a couple times each year to places like NYC, Chicago, Florida, and whenever she comes back I'm usually 5 lbs lighter just from a week or 2 of eating my own food on a regular schedule. I was 185 when I moved in with her 5 years ago, and later was as high as 250, although a misdiagnosed thyroid disorder didn't help. I managed to lose all the way down to 208 last year but then over-rewarded myself and fell into the bad habits again.

                        Re: OS Weight Loss 2011

I weighed myself yesterday morning and was 247.5! That's about 20 pounds lost in 1.5 months. I'm pretty pleased, and will continue to work on my goal of getting down to 235. I am 6'6" so 235 will be a good weight for me.

I am really wanting to get back on P90x, but some nagging back issues are really holding me back with that. I am still getting some exercise and eating really clean, and still playing basketball at least once a week.

Sounds like everyone is doing good work, keep it going fellas!

I just had a wedding etc on the weekend where I was the best man. Because the wedding was over 2000miles away I had to get my measurements taken around xmas time and emailed through then I had another measurement this past week for any final adjustments to my suit. The results:

Pants and suit jacked both over 2 sizes smaller than the xmas measurements and my waist had shrank considerable while my shoulder width hadn't dropped much at all so that V taper is coming in nicely. I think i put on 4lbs in the 10 days I was away (lots of beer + celebrating etc) but that is nothing and i'll drop that this week now I'm back at it. I still have 15 or so lbs to hit my goal of roughly 180lbs at 5'11 but i'm 100% sure i can do it.

an interesting study regarding the health benefits of fasting was just release:

                          The main points:

                          - fasting not only lowers one's risk of coronary artery disease and diabetes, but also causes significant changes in a person's blood cholesterol levels. Both diabetes and elevated cholesterol are known risk factors for coronary heart disease.

                          - This recent study also confirmed earlier findings about the effects of fasting on human growth hormone (HGH), a metabolic protein. HGH works to protect lean muscle and metabolic balance, a response triggered and accelerated by fasting. During the 24-hour fasting periods, HGH increased an average of 1,300 percent in women, and nearly 2,000 percent in men.

                          - Dr. Horne believes that fasting could one day be prescribed as a treatment for preventing diabetes and coronary heart disease.

Sorry to go on about this topic again but I personally believe that in the next 10-20 years the most popular and successful diets in the world will revolve around some form of fasting like Intermittent Fasting like I am doing (www.leangains.com). Also i think that stupid eating every 3 hours to boost your metabolism myth will finally be squashed and people will realize that that is just BS from the supplement companies to sell protein shakes and bars.

I'm officially 15 lbs. lighter since starting P90x 55 days ago. I feel great, I have more energy, and I'm a lot more confident in myself. I've lost more in fat that 15lbs. since I've gained a lot more muscle doing P90x. I've had a few setbacks in the program (laziness and diet a day or two) but overall I'm feeling pretty good.

The wifey and I decided to skip working out on Sunday and just relax on the couch all day. We were feeling like crap because of it, when I realized that we're working out at least 5, usually 6 days a week and I shouldn't feel too bad if we skip a day.

I am still working towards my first goal of 299. Currently at 302. I weighed in at this last week at a low but then bounced back towards 304-305 until today again.
