Monopoly was and still is my all time favorite board game.

      Re: Favorite board game?

We've picked up a bunch since Christmas:

      Pandemic
      - A co-op game where you work together as a team of scientists, researchers, and emergency responders to contain and cure deadly diseases before they ravage the world. This is really fun even with just two people. I haven't had an opportunity to play this with a bigger group, but I expect it to be more difficult with more people.

Loot - A pirate themed card game where you attack merchant ships for gold/points. Really simple and easy to pickup for anybody who has never played before. Games are quick and fun. Sometimes even intense. Two players can play, but its not nearly as fun as playing with a group.

Forbidden Desert - Similar to Forbidden Island for anybody familiar with those. A co-op game where you and your group are stranded in the desert. Before leaving (or succumbing to the pitfalls of the desert) you have collect a handful of relics. I think I like the aesthetic of Forbidden Island more, but both are really fun.

Smart-A** - A party trivia game. Anybody can play as the trivia isn't really difficult and has a broad range. A great game to break the ice for game night. Games are relatively short. Lots of fun and funny moments as the first to yell out an answer wins the round (you only get one guess).

Harry Potter Trivial Pursuit - Some questions are ridiculously hard and specific while others are incredibly simple. This seems to pull more from the canon of the movies rather than adhering to all the details of the books.

Tsuro of the Seas - This is really fun though will need a couple play throughs before the mechanics start to settle in. Not overly difficult, but can be a lot going on depending on how many players are playing. Each player controls a ship on the board which also features a sea-monster. Each round the players move their ships along routes on tile pieces that you piece together. Try to outrun the monster, but also try to maneuver the other players off the board or towards the path of the monster. Very fun.

What Do You Meme - We played this at a friend's house. It is setup and plays similarly to Cards Against Humanity. You have a picture of meme and play a "caption phrase" card. Players take turn being the judge. Fun party game, but can get a little stale after awhile.

If I could ever get anyone to play it would be risk.

However given that, it’s probably Monopoly.

Not exactly a board game, but similar concept. My friends and I really like codenames. We play it just about every time we get together. It's fun because no matter what, the game is always different (unlike a lot of other card games where you learn the answers/combinations). I love being the codemaster. But then I always die a little on the inside when that 1 person on my team starts arguing for the wrong card

Stratego , and back before I quit drinking Trouble. Myself and 3 friends would have many beers and play Trouble for money, $5.00 each per game. Those were some fun evenings. I'd be walking home hammered at 3:00 am.

Filsinger Games Legends of Wrestling. Perfect captured the essence of it all in this little card game. Couldn't live without it.

Technically a card game, but I think it fits the thread.

Tien len - Probably my favorite card game due to its ease to play and strategy involved. It was the default game for my friends and I to play for years in high school and college.

Just got Marvel Champions and finally played with my son the other night. Really fun game. We have both the DC Deck Building Game and Marvel Legendary which are both fun. What’s nice is all three are different games. Champions you actually play as one hero solo or with others. They keep coming out with new heroes and scenarios too.

been debating the last couple months about picking up Blitz Bowl from Barnes and Noble but I'm afraid I won't understand just exactly how it plays. I saw a tutorial on YouTube and while it says it's easy to play, I was lost just a couple minutes in. I might need them to explain it like I'm 8 years old. and if I'm still unsure, maybe they could explain like I'm 5 years old

Had some friends over tonight and we played Topix. Tons of fun, especially when you get to scoring at the end of each round. Lots of debate around what qualifies as a good answer.
