A "term" I hate are when people generalize certain items.

Like calling any smartphone an iphone, any tablet an ipad and so on.

I actually had someone get mad at me once for calling their iPad a tablet. They were like "Its not a tablet, it's an ipad! A tablet is some cheap garbage thing, an ipad costs more and is better."

They don't realize an ipad actually is a tablet though...and an iphone is a smartphone.

Ones like that are fine, bandaids I think are one of the most common name out of all these things.

But I meant moreso something like iphone and smartphone.

If you refer to a jacuzzi as a hot tub, people know what that means. But some people hear iphone and smartphone, or ipad and tablet and think its 2 different things.

Thinking about it now, and I use the brand names almost all the time. Every cotton swab is a Q-Tip, every tissue is a Kleenex, etc.

I usually differentiate with tech, but it depends. I'll specify a console instead of calling everything a Nintendo.

I call iPads iPads, but anything else gets the generic "tablet" treatment. Unless it's my device, I don't feel like learning if someone has a Galaxy Tab, an Amazon Fire, or who knows what else. I just call phones phones, iPhones included.

We’re part of the “just call everything pop” group here. Why, I have no idea. I guess I could Google it, but sometimes life needs these little mysteries.

I've noticed more and more people saying "an historic". Is that even proper grammar?

Shortening of words that have no need to be shortened seems annoying.

I think I mentioned it before, but those who call a pizza a 'za. Like really, is PIZZA too hard or complex for you to say?

And don't get me started on 'rona. Like do we need to give it a nickname to make it seem cool?

It's used more so in England.

I like when people say "half a dozen" instead of "six," haha.
