I like when people say "half a dozen" instead of "six," haha.
If you're trying to make it seem like more then it makes sense.

Like in sports. Saying you have six players who got a hit in a game. Or saying half a dozen had a hit. The latter sounds bigger.

Although I always say several in those instances. 6-8 I usually say several.

Or "a few" if it's like 2 or something.

No, more like they'll make a full donut, cut it in half, but you gotta wait for someone else to order the other half before they actually make it.

If you can't wait, you can always just order the half a bakers dozen + 1 special.

The 1 thing about these drinks that sucks though is not knowing what brand a restaurant has. Their menu might just say "Pop $1.50" and not specify all options, which leads to you asking for a coke for them to be like "Do you mean Pepsi? We don't serve coke." So maybe they think I call all drinks coke. Although I dont drink coke or Pepsi (I like 7up and Sprite, those are only kinds I drink, I hate the taste of coke or pepsi)

Off topic, but I find all these prices to suck. Go pay $1.50 for a can of pop at a store or vending machine, or you go to the grocery and buy the big box of them that works out to 30 cents a can. I always packed my own drinks when I go to work, people live off the vending machine while I have the exact same thing to drink but paying $1 less a day for it.

To your point, this is where fast food restaurants can often make a killing. McDonald's actually probably loses money selling burgers, but turn a decent profit with fries and an even larger profit selling soft drinks, since it costs them next to nothing to take in. That's why turning people to combos is always so important for them.

I've been doing it for years, not a pandemic reaction, but I can make my own burgers, fries, and just have a can to drink as well, all together it probably costs $2.50 total. This amount would probably cost several dollars at a fast food place. Another one of those things I make and take to work and often fascinate people at my work for something as simple and cost friendly as that.

I mean a bag of fries is $2-3 total for enough to feed several people if you use up the whole bag.

Cant even remember last time I've gone to a place to get burgers, fries, tacos, or any of those things. I make it all myself and it tastes so much better at a fraction of the price.

                  Fixed. Makes it seem bigger.

But yeah it's crazy what kinds of foods can let you feed yourself for weeks for just a small amount of money. A huge bag of rice can be had for less than $20 easily, and around July 4th I bought 14 lbs of country style pork ribs for like $25. I froze some but eventually finished it all, and that gave me nearly three weeks' worth of food right there.

Meanwhile I could go to some restaurant and spend almost as much in just one meal, heh.

It's why I don't like eating out except special occasions like birthdays, holidays, vacations/road trips (road trip fast food tastes the best. Something about eating while driving around an unfamiliar spot or just going to a nearby park in that town is nice).

I've never calculated it before, but if I saved even $5 a day vs the average person on food, which I feel is a low number, that's about $2000 right there a year saved. That's not even factoring in these $20+ dishes at restaurants for dinner.

I don't live cheap (but I dont live expensive either), I'm not unhealthy, but I'm just wise with how to spend money and maximize/utilize what I have.

Only things I like from fast food places I haven't been able to replicate myself are their treats like slushies, mcflurries and so on.

Only thing I dislike is when people start using phrases in every possible context just because it's something people have started saying more and more. Like, I'm good with not hearing "that's tough" in every other sentence.
