Didnt even get an answer. Turned into such a weird deal with her man, no wonder I never got a house with her.

We had a similar issue when we purchased our house. I was away so my wife was dealing with one realtor for about a year flying back and fourth to PA checking out houses. I met the realtor twice and he seemed a little weird but overall not a bad guy. We eventually hit the two year mark for house hunting and my wife decided this guy wasn't doing his job so she called him and explained that we would be moving on with another realtor.

I must have received 3-4 emails from this guy sending me listing's (not from the MLS) and asking me when I would be in town to check out some more properties. Long story short, I finally called him myself and told him he was fired. He decided to borderline disrespect my wife at which point the conversation went in a bad direction.

We ended up purchasing a home through our new realtor eventually but man what an awkward experience.

Re: For all of you guys who are homeowners or newly owned

Yeah it is awkward but what I've learned from this is you find the person you feel is working for YOU.

Without a good realtor (for you) the process is a huge pain in the neck, and vice versa when you have the right one, it makes things so much more smooth its not even funny.

I have a house warming coming up mid Oct, so I've held off on buying alot of little things.

People keep calling my game room a man cave, but its not big enough for me to consider it that, so It'll just be the game room to me. So far I have the game systems PS3/360 with a 60 inch 3d LED tv,sound bar, a stand for it, and recliner... nothing else is done, no paint, no decor, nothing on the wall so I have some work to do

Placed a mini fridge on the housewarming list... would someone get that for me? I dont think so but then again what do I know lol

I just bought one of these for my man room:

It looks great and keeps my drinks ice cold. It's so cold I actually froze two cans on accident.

Ugh. Pool fence installer somehow drilled into a pool pipe, so now my intake will just suck in air. They're going to fix it, but so annoying to have to deal with it....my pool filter doesn't work until they get their plumber out to fix it.

At least you don't have to pay for it

Probably should invest in a nice pool cover too

Yeah, we're gonna figure it all out. Since we don't close down the pool (doesn't freeze in Arizona really) I have some time I think. I'm paying a guy for 2 months to watch it while we're out of town and also show me the ropes a bit, and after that I'll just manage it myself.

We have an automatic cleaner all ready, so should be pretty good on our own.

Any advice on liquid chlorine vs. the tabs you put in the floater? I know the tabs have CYA, so I probably just have to keep that at a good level since you can't get it out without draining, but I've heard liquid chlorine can go bad fairly fast and also can get a little expensive.

Found a pool forum (troublefreepool.com) where I've learned a lot about pools, but I never know if they're just a bit too fanatical and as a "general" pool owner I don't have to get that crazy. Similar to how avsforum.com is for tv/audio stuff...

My future father in law has a pool and we're visiting them in a week, so I'll be asking him. I know it's not rocket science, so I'll be fine. My pool guy said worst case with the CYA stuff you just refill your pool and that's something he charges 300 bucks for and people in AZ usually want to do that every 3 years or so. Not too bad.

I'll be learning though, and if anyone here really knows pools I'd be interested in your experiences.

How often do you have to add the liquid chlorine? Is it expensive? Do you have to test every day and balance, or can you go more once a week? Is it tough figuring out how much chlorine to add?

Right now the pool guy just has a floater with pucks in it, but since we move in tomorrow I haven't really had much time to get that acquainted with the pool (besides installing baracuda G2 cleaner).

Basically I've read on a pool forum that the pucks (trichlor I think) add Cyanuric Acid (I think that's right). So most of the people on there just do the liquid chlorine, but I've heard that can go bad in storage, so you have to end up making lots of expensive trips to buy more...

Just trying to understand a good way to maintain our pool that isn't super time consuming.

Thanks for whatever input you have. I'm just a person who enjoys hearing all the info and learning so I can get more knowledgeable.

                            $213 after s&h

Ordered through homedepot.com and the first one came damaged. You can return the item in the store and get refunded or just have them order you another one. My 2nd one came in great condition.

I believe the price went up to $240 before s&h though...even HD was lower than Amazon when I made the purchase.

                            http://www.amazon.com/Danby-DBC120BL...everage+center

Goodness amazon has it at $270!!!

I purchased the item earlier this month and it already went up 20%. It is likely due to the poor packaging. There were multiple reviews where the item came damaged. I took a chance because it was listed at $199 on home depot's online site.

I use a chlorine bucket attached to the filter. I usually fill it up and set it to around 4/10. I just watch the PH levels and have never had an issue for around 10+ years.
