I haven't been able to find where they're nesting. I traced one line, and they went up a tree in my yard.

I sprayed some Ortho on the porch and hit a concentration of them in the landscaping with it last night. Hopefully that will help.

Speaking of ants, if you want to kill a swarm or line of ants (inside or outdoors) and don't want to use Ortho or some other toxic bug spray, we use Simple Green all purpose cleaner...it will kill them on contact and usually don't see them back again in that same spot for a while.

I have ants but they are in the yard. I was digging up some of my wonderful crabgrass earlier and a **** ton of them came out with the weed. Better than having grubs at least.

I hate my pool, but hopefully getting it on track.

I'm getting a quality test kit so I can slam it with chlorine and get it back to normal.

So frustrating, but probably something I should have done a long time ago.

I had a bunch of ants on the front porch this morning. They had found a dead wasp.

If I can just get the ants and wasps to go to war with each other now ...

Yeah...it'd keep coming back, because I wasn't testing really and just trying to throw crap in there.

I've realized that there's no "magic bullet"...just have to get a good kit and monitor my levels to get it back clear.

Just about keeping my shock level high enough until all the algae gets eaten.

Yeah. I have been using a pool service company where the technician comes every other week.

He hardly does anything besides put chlorine tabs in the holder.

Not worth the money. Canceling it this week.

I have a test kit and test my chemicals at least once a week. Surprisingly the levels have been really consistent. Because the pool is fiberglass, I really have to stay on top of the pH levels.

You should keep some algaecide on hand just in case. Shock is pretty much a temporary blast until your chemicals kind of normalize.

Something to keep in mind, if you use a pool brush or net or anything when the pool had algae in it, have those things in the pool when you treat the algae.

Yeah, I've been going to this forum http://www.troublefreepool.com/ and you probably don't need algaecide. I need to keep my shock levels up above a certain level until it gets clear, then my pool is stable and just have to keep it normally chlorinated.

I'm learning that you have to watch out for the pucks and powder shock, they have added stabilizer, and for me (where we have the pool year round) I don't replace a ton of water, so if the CYA levels get too high it requires a bunch more chlorine to be effective.

Yeah, i have to clean off all those things and also am going to pull out the light and clean behind it, apparently algae hide behind there too...

Would really depend on the type of weed.

Yeah...on grass I tend to just get stuff you spray on the whole lawn and that can kill the weeds in grass...Doesn't work on some, some need special chemicals i think.
