    Re: Christmas 2011

I looooooooooooove Christmas time. I don't really care about getting gifts. I just love the Christmas atmosphere and seeing the smiles on kids faces everywhere. Maybe i'm just sappy like that.

The best part of Christmas...is December 26th. I loathe Christmas (not really the meaning behind the holiday, but what it has become and continues to evolve into).

My only problem with Christmas, it has been more about gifts, then about spending time with family and friends. At least in this country. All of these holidays have been sabotaged by the retail industry.

However, I do like this time of year!

I have so many must see Christmas movies/shows that we watch every year. I'm sure I will forget one or two, here goes:

          Christmas Vacation
          A Christmas Story
          Rudolph The Red Nosed Reindeer
          Frosty The Snowman
Santa Claus is Comin' To Town
          Elf
          The Polar Express
          Home Alone 1 & 2
A Christmas Carol (Alastair Sim version only)
          Bad Santa

We won't do the tree until after Thanksgiving, but we'll likely put the lights up outside the house this coming weekend, in order to avoid the snow. Last year we waited and laughed at our neighbor for putting them up early, but the snow arrived and never melted so we were out of luck.

Meh, I hate my family, so I love the gifts that I exchange with my wife and son.

I agree with you on that, I should have been more clear. I don't particularly like how it all goes down, I guess. (big corps)

I think it is great for the kids. It gives them something to look forward to.

We still have it, but this year it's going to pale in comparison to past parties. My one aunt dressed up as Santa for my younger cousins (and me when I was a lot younger), but she moved to Florida so that's done. All the fun family members are gone. Man, this is gonna suck, lol.
This will be our first Christmas, without my grandfather.

I'm trying to be optimistic and in good spirits, but I know everyone will be thinking exactly what I'm thinking. It just won't be the same.

For me...it's the Christmas season.....from whenever until Christmas Eve...
Then my family and I go to mass(if I'm not working) and being together to focus in on "CHRISTmas".
We then will say prayers at our Christmas meal also.
We mix it....I'm good with that.

The thing I'm most looking forward to this holiday season is being single. This is the first holiday season I've been single in 6 years. I'm going to save so much ****ing money this year.

Spoil my daughter , family and of course myself this year.

Yeah, my wife and I have been married for four years, but this is our first Christmas LIVING together. I can't wait for the holiday, but the decorations are still in their boxes for a few more weeks.

My heart goes out to all those who have lost love ones. It is hard, however I like to believe they are even closer to us on this day(Christmas). I can understand that people cannot stand what Christmas has become. More retail than the real reason. But, I hold on to the joy that I get by, spending time with my family, giving gifts to my love ones, watching holiday specials, the decorations and the music. That being said, I never lose sight of the true meaning of Christmas.

With regards to not being as excited, like when I was a kid....well I'm 38 years old and I still have a hard time sleeping Christmas eve!
I am the lesson after the fall.

Well I been hard at work on my lights outside. I'm not done yet but will be fully running by Thanksgiving night. Here is a quick video I shot with my iPhone tonight. It's no where near as elaborate as a bunch of the video's you see online but it's something I enjoy doing for my kids and the folks in the neighborhood. There is no music on the video but I have it working. This was just more of a test run to see how things look, I have some more things to add and a little more editing on the computer. But like I said this is my favorite time of year.

It may sound cheesy, but giving to others really does bring me the most joy. My wife and I are thinking about sponsoring a family for Christmas. They can come over and dine with us and open up some gifts. Getting excited already!

Too bad we won't have any Christmas hoops to watch.
