    Re: Christmas 2011

Christmas is the greatest. December is my favorite month, with my birthday, weather, the holidays, football, food, etc.

    Can't wait.

        Re: Christmas 2011

My wife and I don't really celebrate Christmas or any of these holidays. Yet, I did open the door and gave candies to the neighbourhood's kids (it was quite fun, though I ran out of candies by 7pm), and we also bought an artifical Christmas tree and a couple of ornaments. Why not?
        My Specs:

        ZX Spectrum
        CPU: Z80 @ 3.5 MHz
        GPU: Monochrome display
        RAM: 48 KB
        OS: Sinclair BASIC

Christmas is my favorite holiday. Good food, good gifts (giving and getting), good time with both my wife's and my family, good football, and great beer!

December has always been my favorite month. I usually start cranking up the xmas tunes around this time.

Like all those envious years I had as a youth up into my teens just made me flat out bitter. And its not that I do it on purpose, it just happens. The initial disappointment I felt when I was young still haunts me on Christmas day. No matter if I recieved a gift or not, I just wanna cry on Christmas. Way to many bad memories of waking up with nothing.

Anyway, just thought I'd share that with yall. I dont really tell people this much. I wish it was some way for me to get over it but I cant defeat that feeling.
I've never celebrated. To be honest, I'm not religious, although if I was, still wouldn't 'celebrate.' My parents are muslim. However, I still love this time of year. I like how the mood is a tad different. I look at it as a time to rekindle old friendships. A time to get in touch with people and see how they are doing, and, of course, celebrate with your family, if that's what you do.

I spoke to my GF about this, in the future, I wouldn't mind putting up a tree and decorating and such. As much as it is frowned upon, I try to be fair. Christmas means a lot to her so who am I to deprive her of that, and if we stay together, our kids?

XM channel 17 switches to Christmas music in approximately 1 hour.

As for traditions I have to watch A Christmas Story at least once during the 24 hour marathon.

As far as traditions on Christmas Eve and Christmas I have to watch A Christmas Story. I watch it every year.
Starting the night before Thanksgiving I usually watch A Christmas Story 3-4 times a week through Christmas day. "You'll shoot your eye out, you'll shoot your eye out!"
I've heard this "patience is a virtue" junk all my life. I'm happy to say I have no virtue, no scruples, and no desire to wait too long for anything. In my humble opinion instant gratification takes too long!

The Wife and I hung our Christmas lights outside last week. We are going to wait until Thanksgiving night to turn them on. This is also my favorite time of the year. I hate the holiday season goes by so fast. It's like you blink and it's already January.

I don't do any Christmas decorating until late November/early December. Usually we'll do it around US Thanksgiving. I love the closeness and good cheer of the season though some years it leaves me with a bit of a depressed feeling.

Still, there's nothing better than a white Christmas, don't get that very often any more but when it happens it makes it all the more special.

I'm debating on switching from regular Christmas lights to the LED ones. I'll have to price them over the next week.
