I'll just tell you this... having a former life as a retail manager for about five years, if it's not on the schedule, then you don't have to work, and there isn't a damn thing they can do about it. They also can't alter the schedule less than 24 hrs prior to wanting you to come in.
My advice? ALWAYS get a copy of your schedule. Retail outlets (not just Walmart) will try to pull this **** all the time, and they get away with it because most young employees, especially part-timers, don't fully understand the legal limits of their employers.
And while you're at it, you can also let them know that they can't legally work a part-time employee more than 35 hrs/week.
You don't need to put up with bull**** just because some shift manager with a high school degree tries to push you around.
