So at the beginning of this month I checked my schedule and found I had some days off. Usually I work Tuesday-Saturday night but the first week of August I had a 3 or 4 day weekend. I didn't think much of it because the first Monday in August is a holiday throughout almost all of Canada anyways. After that though, I had more days off each week this month.

Two weeks ago I was supposed to have a day off on a Thursday, but because one of my co-workers was going to need help that night because of the amount of stock coming in, I came in anyways. He said something about my duty managers wondering where I was on those nights the schedule said I had off yet they never called me on any of those nights or came up to me and talk to me about the situation.

Then last Saturday, one of them finally comes up to me and starts asking me why I haven't been showing up. I said, "Umm, the schedule says I have those nights off. Obviously I'm not going to ignore that," because really, what employee would? She then says "Do you really need three days off though?". This is where I should have just laughed in her face and told her to **** off because I've already brought up to her in the past the fact that I was hired as a part-time employee, yet I'm working 5 days a week like I'm a full-time employee and not being compensated like one. I ended up just saying "It would be nice....", and she went on to ask me if I could work the upcoming Tuesday, but I quickly said "I have a doctor's appointment," to which she rolled her eyes at. She then went on to basically tell me to ignore the schedule and just work my regular Tuesday-Saturday night schedule. I thought this was a bunch of BS and it sucked because I had more days off coming up on my schedule but the conversation ended before I thought to argue and say "So what's the point of posting a schedule? I'm only supposed to follow it as long as it suits your guys' needs?".

So then this week, I'm coming off a nice three day weekend. I went back to work on Wednesday but that morning I had a buddy who wanted to go to the Y and work out. I went and, like I already mentioned earlier this week, tried to be an all-star. I came back home, slept, and went to work. I was a little sore which is obviously normal after working out, but it was nothing out of the ordinary. Then on Thursday when I woke up and tried to get out of bed, I fell right back to my bed because of the pain in my legs. Eventually I managed to get up but I couldn't stand or walk at all without pain. Despite that, I went to work and somehow managed to work through all the pain (when I would go and sit down during my breaks, I almost couldn't even get out of the chair).

Those leg pains stayed the same on Friday and it was still a big time struggle just to walk. I didn't think I could put up with another night of trying to work through it and that Friday was one I was scheduled to have off. Of course as I've already mentioned, one of my duty managers told me to ignore the schedule, but she's now on holidays for 2 weeks so I figured screw it, I'm staying home.

This is where my frustration really starts to kick in.....

Last night I show up and everything is going fine. Any pain I was experiencing the past two days is pretty much gone, I'm not being interrogated as to why I wasn't there the night before and I'm going about my business. Then my other duty manager comes up to me and inevitably asks "Why weren't you here last night?". I pretend to act surprised and tell him the schedule says I was supposed to be off. Then he pretty much tells me I have to work Sunday even though that's one of my regular off-nights, which to me is just complete bull**** and this is what's really pushing me to the edge.

In the grand scheme of things, it isn't that big of a deal and obviously what I did staying home on Friday night wasn't the best idea, but they didn't call at any point that night, I had a legitimate excuse and it's their own damn fault for how they've handled this whole scheduling mishap. If they just went and said it was a computer error (as they have before around the beginning of the year) then fine, I can deal with it, but the problem is they didn't. And as far as I know this is only a problem with me. Other people are taking holidays and people that, as far as I know are considered part-timers like me, are also taking days off that aren't their regular days off. So basically it feels like I'm being singled out and getting ****ed over for no good reason. As if the whole "part-time employee working full-time hours" wasn't getting F'd enough.

I'll just tell you this... having a former life as a retail manager for about five years, if it's not on the schedule, then you don't have to work, and there isn't a damn thing they can do about it. They also can't alter the schedule less than 24 hrs prior to wanting you to come in.

My advice? ALWAYS get a copy of your schedule. Retail outlets (not just Walmart) will try to pull this **** all the time, and they get away with it because most young employees, especially part-timers, don't fully understand the legal limits of their employers.

And while you're at it, you can also let them know that they can't legally work a part-time employee more than 35 hrs/week.

You don't need to put up with bull**** just because some shift manager with a high school degree tries to push you around.

When I had a real skateboard..our game was 720. /old. Also FT, do you have other BB's around you? If you go online they have the sale going there too but most items are in-store only. They have a locator to check to see what your store(s) may have in stock.

The closest one is 30 minutes way and then the second closest would be about an hour away. I'm probably burning myself out on Skate anyway. They did have Driver: San Fransisco there and I thought about picking that up, but figured I'd rather wait for the new Forza.

I decided to play a random online game (questionable decision, I know).

I played a game against a guy using USC. He was complete garbage, yet I just kept chugging along. He was leading 21-35 late in the third and driving for another score (I say driving, but really it was just hurry up all game) and I picked him off. I drove it back down the field to score to make it 28-35 going into the 4th. I intercept him again and drive it down and score 35-35 late in the 4th. I finally realized I had found a way to beat his scrub offense, so I kept calling the same two plays (just like him). I intercepted him on a third straight drive and ran it back down the field and I'm about to hit the end zone and the game freezes and he quit...

I laughed out loud a little. I never got frustrated and kept running my offense. I did start running just a few plays on defense, because of his offense. He wouldn't even kick it to me, just kept squib kicking. Apparently he had been practicing a lot, because the first two times he kicked to me, Barner would have to dive to pick the ball up and I got stuck inside the 10 yard line twice. After that, I started moving guys after the kick and making it roll out of the end zone or out of bounds.

I can just visualize him sitting in front of his TV melting down.. maybe he broke something

I decided to watch Season 1 of Homeland on Showtime on Demand this week, and it was time well spent. Best crime/drama series I've watched.

If any of you guys haven't watched it, I highly recommend it.

I know a lot of people who work part time at Walmart and other retail stores 5 days a week. They still be under 35 hours though, they usually be around 32, 33 hours a week.

I work 5 days a week in retail...usually get 21-25 hours. I like the money, but it gets frustrating sometimes when I have to work every Friday and Saturday while everyone else is rotated on and off.

I have a pair of prescription sunglasses, similar to those.

I never wear them now, since I have contacts. I have a pair of Oakley Flak Jackets, but I don't wear them much. I usually just wear some cheap safety/sunglasses. They hold up better than the other cheap sunglasses, fit more comfortable and actually look the better than most.

I'll never spend more than $20 on a pair of sunglasses. In the last year I've had 6 pairs, and I've:

None of them lasted longer than two weeks. As nice as Oakleys/Ray Bans are, I wouldn't trust myself with them.

I've lost a few pair in the lake this year, all ready.

I dropped two off the dock and a third I lost, while trying to sling this girl off the wave runner. She got a hold of my life jacket on the way off and I lost my balance and fell too.. glasses sunk like a rock.

That's why I never wear the one good pair I have.
