Just wondering some of the methods you guys used to separate your food from your roommates' food in college.

Picked roommates that wouldn't steal my food or would ask before they used something that I had that they needed.

I had to be calm for my 4yr old, but it was crazy because all of these teenaged kids started running to the pool and I didn't know if one of them was the shooter or not.

There's basically one way in one way out, aside from jumping the fence. I was covering down behind a wall Gears of War style and looking around the corner w/ my 4 yr old behind me trying to make sure the coast was clear.

I never actually heard the shots, my head might've been under the water at that exact time, but after I found out where it actually occurred it was probably 120 yards from the pool w/ a row of homes blocking us from where the shooting occurred.

We have a contingency of former military in our neighborhood. Some of whom now work in law enforcement (Sheriff's Deputy), or Dept of Homeland Security. Those of us were out in droves giving reports. A fellow neighbor who is also a former Marine said he heard 3 shots and immediately knew it was gunfire, then looked out his window and saw a black SUV leaving the neighborhood, almost striking oncoming vehicles in the process.

I am not condemning all Section 8 renters, but given my experience in my neighborhood...there's not a lot of good I can see from this "program".

I lived in an entire Section 8 apartment complex for 2 years. There was 1 problem tenant out of 20 units. That "program" helps a lot of people that legitimately need it.

Therefore my experiences do not necessarily sum up all of the good it can do. Color me jaded.

Yeah, though as far as Section 8 goes, NDAlums's story reminds me of something my mom told me. After she moved, the bus she had to take downtown to get to work goes through a complex of Section 8 (or something similar) apartments further out than where she got on to go to work. She told me she would often hear people conversing in other languages and such and one time she actually heard a guy sitting a row or 2 behind her on his cell phone making drug deals while on the bus. She started driving to a park & ride and taking the T to work not long after that incident.

Section 8 is hit and miss. In my neighborhood we have one section 8 family. They take care of the place and keep up with the neighborhood. In the neighborhood I grew up in its mostly section 8 renters now and its really getting run down.
On another note I really wish I didn't have to work this weekend. I have the next two off so...

I remember my SNES coming with it.

Oh man, remember when that came out, and you first played it? It set the bar for graphics at the time. Stunning. Great times.

If 95% of section 8 families were great the world would be a much better place!

If you ever come to NC do a ride along with me and I'll show you the other side. FWIW I wish I could say "Let me show you the great 95%!!!". Would make my job much easier
