Re: Favorite team make the championship and lose or finish in last place?
You'd be surprised, over half the people I know would rather finish last every year like the Royals instead of being like the Bills in the 90's and making it to the championship but losing all the time.
EDIT: Example: New Orleans fans right nowLast edited by adice15; 01-16-2012, 06:57 PM.Follow me on Twitter: @ADice15Comment

Re: Favorite team make the championship and lose or finish in last place?
Maybe I'm strange, but as someone who has pretty much had both his entire life, I'd definitely prefer the Royals to be more like KU basketball, than KU basketball being more like the Royals. It's not even close.
They're just showing how completely irrational humans can be.Comment

Make the championship and lose because then at least the team is good. Like Chaos, I've had both for about the last 20 years between the Steeelrs and Pirates.Steelers : IX, X, XIII, XIV, XL, XLIII
Penguins : 1990/91, 1991/92, 2008/09, 20015/16, 2016/17
Pirates : 1909, 1925, 1960, 1971, 1979
Panthers (FB): 1915, 1916, 1918, 1929, 1931, 1934, 1936, 1937, 1976
Panthers (MBB): 1927/28, 1929/30Comment

You definitely take losses a little too hard if you'd rather your team be irrelevant for 6 months than have them have an exciting run that comes up one game short. Watching sports is supposed to be fun.
Can't imagine anyone preferring the Jets 1-15 year to the 2 years before this one. Or preferring the last decade of Knicks basketball to 94 or 99.Last edited by NYJets; 01-16-2012, 07:06 PM.Originally posted by Jay BilasThe question isn't whether UConn belongs with the elites, but over the last 20 years, whether the rest of the college basketball elite belongs with UConnComment

Re: Favorite team make the championship and lose or finish in last place?
Oh no it has nothing to do with losing it has to do with the way these last 2 losses have gone for the state LA.
13-0 season playing a team you already beat? Come out and get wrecked 21-0 with no offense at all.
13-3 season, breaking records, beating the Lions, commit 5 TOs in 2nd playoff game. Brees/Sproles/Graham put team on their back in the last minutes but lose in heartbreaking fashion.
I'd still rather have a good season, then finish last unless it's the NBA.
Me and Watson would have not had these little outbursts today if not for this whole Gunner Kiel situation with LSU I betLast edited by Chrisksaint; 01-16-2012, 07:09 PM.Saints, LSU, Seminoles, Pelicans, Marlins, LightningComment

Re: Favorite team make the championship and lose or finish in last place?
I'm not voting, but I think it really depends on the sport. It takes longer to build up a losing team in baseball than it does in football or especially basketball.
Three years of 1st picks in the draft and you can already make it into the NBA playoffs.
About 5 years of picks in the NFL, look at the Lions. (But then look at the Rams.)
Usually it takes over 10 years to rebuild in MLB. Look at the Pirates, Reds, Rays, O's, Royals, Cardinals (87-2000), etc.Comment

Re: Favorite team make the championship and lose or finish in last place?
I don't have links or names but one I remember pretty good is where someone was complaining about their team losing in the championship (I think it was the Super Bowl) and then saying that they would rather go winless and get the #1 draft pick.Follow me on Twitter: @ADice15Comment

Re: Favorite team make the championship and lose or finish in last place?
Who wouldn't want to make it to the championship game? A better question would be.
Would you rather have your favorite team finish .500 or come in last place.
Both scenarios almost always guarantee you miss the playoffs. Finishing .500 as a fan you can enjoy winning some games. With last place you get the first round pick or the odds to receive it are heavily in your favor.Comment
