If I went any bigger, it would not have properly fit with my equipment, so I had to optimize. I'm okay with it, but I also know what I'm missing with those five inches. :) -
Re: The Pleasures of Life Thread
I've never discussed this on OS before this post.
My ultimate pleasure in my life is hearing my 5 year old son talk. He was diagnosed with autism two and half years ago. For those who are not familiar with Autism it is a developmental disorder which includes impaired communication and social skills.
Before his diagnosis he did not speak a word, was not toilet trained, would not approach people and would play with toys inappropriately (no imaginative play). For example instead of driving dinky cars he would spin them on the roof over and over again. He was obsessed with ceiling fans and would want all the lights on ALL the time.
Since his diagnosis he has been working with speech pathologists and early interventionists. Last September he was chosen to take part in EIBI (Early Intesive Behaviour Intervention) with the Children's hospital. A 12 month program where for 3 hours a day, 5 days a week 3 different therapists work with him. They help with playing with toys correctly, speech, reading, interacting with other children. They go to his pre-school and to the playgrounds, etc. They will go anywhere with you where you feel your child has anxiety. He was scared to death of swimming pools and even going down slides.
Since EIBI kicked in 6 months ago I can proudly say my son is:
Speaking 1, 2 3 and 4 word sentences.
Plays with other kids.
LOVES the swimming pool!
LOVES slides.
The obsession with ceiling fans and lights has disappeared completely.
He is toilet trained.
Knows Santa Claus and can open presents on his own. His first 4 x-mas's he flipped out during every one of his photos with Santa. This last x-mas he ran right over to him called him by name and gave him a high five. An unbelievable feeling.
Every one that works with him say he has improved immensely and we cannot even begin to express our gratitude to all the help we have received thus far. They tell us he is more than ready for school and we have enrolled him in Primary for September.
We just met with our son's early interventionist and she told us tsomething really great. She said in the 18 years she has been dealing with autistic children, she has never seen anyone progress so rapidly than our little guy. My wife and I just lost it and broke down. She has been taking him to visit the elementary school each week where he will be attending primary. He has already met the principal and some teachers. They say he is so ready to go!Comment

Got goosebumps reading some of the awesome post.
For me at this stage of my life(just turning 30 and not being where I want) I would have to say that seeing the light at the end of the tunnel for my hard work right now pumps me up.

The TV show, "Total Blackout" on the Syfy Channel.
Bulgogi, Kimchi, and Yaki Mandu at Mi Suks in St. Robert, MO. The Yaki Mandu here is better than any egg roll or crab rangoon you will ever eat.
