These days, all the holiday related stuff is out kind of early. At least in my neck of the woods.

But I'll give a pass to egg nog. Add spiced rum to it..tastes like perfection.

Poetry, it's just something about it that puts my mind to ease and always reminds me of my favorite teacher in middle school.

It's something that has stuck with me since. A little something I wrote about my son

"My son calls me batman because I'm always up all night

I feel I'm batman because I felt like a orphan my whole life

Long AM days fighting depression never made them bright

Maybe I'm the joker an it's all just my psyched out mental

Causing my own pain and fright

Maybe I'm the Waynes & died in that alley

But maybe just maybe I'm batman and I'll find my way through these valley's

Save his parent from dying in that alley of his mind rid of the crazy green head guy

Look back on the valleys like my baby was right

because he brought the bat signal into my sky's everytime I look in his eye's

I'm batman because he made me batman"

Heh..not surprising. I went to a convenience store this past Memorial Day and they were still selling Christmas-themed tickets. From last year. Crazy stuff.

Re: The Pleasures of Life Thread

I've mentioned this in here before that my son has autism. He is almost 9 years old and has come on leaps and bounds. Just in this past year he has accomplished so much:

Learned to ride a bike (we never thought he would as he showed no prior interest).
                Learned to swim.
Gets dressed himself, makes his bed, gets his own snacks, puts dishes away.
Reads unassisted in front of his class. He even self-corrected himself a couple of times last week.
He absolutely loves to sing and my wife has been battling with the school to allow him to join the choir. The problem was that choir was during lunch hour and that is when the EPA's (the staff that help children with special needs) are on break also. We fought with the school and his teacher volunteered to take him. As soon as he got there he asked the teacher to leave, he wanted to do it on his own. He is now part of the choir and is in the Christmas concert. I'm so proud of what he has accomplished. Just thought I would share.

Really hitting the stride of a good song and connecting with it on a raw emotional level allowing it to serve as a catharsis for thoughts and feelings you couldn't string into words on your own.

This time of the year, but more specifically, this week itself.

So much Christmas stuff to do in such a short period of time. Thursday-Saturday specifically, so much planned.

Got dinner menu(s) lined up for those days as well and.....I'm skipping lunch, and probably breakfast too, cause I'll need the space, lol.
