That isn't how I roll, I let it rip. I have like this instinctual clock that goes off to start mowing, and every time I'm like, "Holy smokes, it's going to rain!" Some days I get lucky

Re: The Pleasures of Life Thread

I bought something years ago on a boxing day sale (back then they price matched boxing day sales, so I bought it at full price before the sale began and price matched it after).

Last year that item ended up being on recall. They were just issuing refunds with proof of purchase which I finally decided to do recently.

I provided my proof of purchase (my original receipt since I never got a new receipt for the price match, they simply just refunded me the difference) and now the refund on this recall was for the full amount of the original price of the item, not the amount I ended up really paying due to the price match.

        So basically, a free $100.

Looking back/ahead at things since July and realizing from the start of July until Labour Day weekend I'm only having 5 full days work weeks at most 3 of the 10 weeks in this span, and that's just as of now, at least 1 of those 3 could be changed, and another of those 3 weeks happens to be the week before vacation time.

If things work out, there won't even be consecutive weeks of 5 day work weeks all summer.

Now if only that could be the case year round...

We lost our 13 year old lab Otis yesterday. A lot of tears and sorrow, but I awakened this morning with a sense of comfort. Our wonderful pets provide so many blessed memories, a true pleasure of life. Those memories fill our trophy case, which aren't to make us sad, but make us grateful of what we've experienced.

Almost time to go on my end of summer vacation.

Helps that right now is a long weekend here so it's a nice relaxing weekend to plan out what I'm gonna be doing on vacation and then going into the week only having it be a 4 day work week.

I think I now know what its like to discover fire, or plutonium. Wendy's Ghost Pepper Chicken Sandwich. I suspect I will put another 20 pounds on the next couple months. But it will be so worth it.

This year I'm changing things up and making it an earlier vacation. It's nice having an "end of summer" vacation, but at the same time it sucks because you're looking forward to it all summer to the point where by time it's over summer is also done.

This year it's an end of July/beginning of August one so that it's right in the middle. By time it's over there's still most of August left over to enjoy.

Outside of family and watching my kids grow up, it is honestly my morning Tim Horton's coffee. I have one everyday of the year except for Christmas Day and that is due to them not being open. I enjoy it so much, the weird part is I don't enjoy them as much if I have another coffee on the same day. I guess I am a 1 coffee a day type of guy.

Oh....new shoes with a new pair of socks. Absolutely glorious!!!
I am the lesson after the fall.

                              The Pleasures of Life Thread

I got to travel to Memphis for work this past week, but visiting a different place was just half the pleasure. Getting to meet with the guys and gals who make the engine go was as fulfilling an experience as I’ve had. I am legitimately swollen with gratitude and happiness after a week with my people.

It was like meeting your XBOX Live friends you been playing games with for years in person for the first time. I communicate by phone call, text, and email all day every day with these guys but physically being there and shaking hands and pounding fists really solidified the connection and relationship. We all have the same mindset and ethic. It’s a job but it doesn’t have to suck and in fact, we can even make it fun and rewarding when we’re all rowing in the same direction.

Talking about our families and our experiences and just life was next level. Getting these people who bust their *** every day to take some time out to enjoy themselves was the icing on the cake. Some folks were a bit apprehensive at first and I understand why. By the end, it was like we were all buddies sharing stories. We all come from different places and backgrounds, but we come together every weekday and make **** happen. I reject the cloud of divisiveness that may hang over this country from a zoomed out view. Get your feet on the ground and your hands dirty, and you’ll see the power and strength each person brings to the table.

All I’ve ever wanted was to give back and give people a chance just like I had people take a chance on me at different stops, whether that was slinging pizzas, pushing furniture, or creating executive reports. I’m good at what I do, but the people I have on my team execute on what I set up for them. It truly is a team effort. I make it a point to go to bat for them every chance I can because they deserve it, and thankfully I’m heard oftentimes and the glory flows downstream.

Oh, and Memphis treated my stomach well between the food and local drinks.
