Re: The Pleasures of Life Thread
A fairly minor "home renovation" I did was changing out the light bulbs in all the rooms from either those CFL type bulbs (aka the energy efficient bulbs), and some old incandescent bulbs I never realized some rooms still had, to white lights.
Literally all I did was change light bulbs. But despite that, it makes such a huge difference. Even though its about the same brightness, it makes the rooms look so much brighter and newer.
Nice to be able to change things up visually like that while doing very little amount of work.Comment

Finishing the pay period week knowing that in this particular pay period it will include bonus pay for working on a holiday, the actual holiday pay ontop of that, AND overtime pay as well for the accumulated hours throughout the week.Comment

Re: The Pleasures of Life Thread
Friday.
No managers overseeing anything I do all day.
Me having full creative control over every little thing I do all day.
Working in essentially a private area for the entire time, uninterrupted.
Finishing by lunchtime and being allowed to call it a day by then.
This type of day might not happen again, I wasn't even expecting it to happen today, but it definitely was nice to have. Who likes work? But days like this I wouldn't mind at all.Comment

the end of winter and the beginning of spring.
and it's not pleasurable just because it is spring,
but the next 9 months of spring summer & fall are almost as great a Pleasure of Life as the 3 months of winter is a terrible Gear GrinderLast edited by Caulfield; 03-27-2022, 11:21 AM.OSFM23 - Building Better Baseball - OSFM23

Having students do presentations, and getting to chill out and judge some (mostly) shotty work.
Love it.
Between being a PT and teacher for high school students I get to see and hear some awesome stuff, haha.

Re: The Pleasures of Life Thread
You're 11, it's Winter. Snow's coming down and you know there will be no school tomorrow...and college basketball is on TV. I think of that feeling and sometimes want to tear up, knowing I'll never have it again.NCAA: Kentucky Wildcats

Settling in for the evening with my wife (we are now empty-nesters) to watch our shows. It is nice to experience what I once thought was "old people" stuff. Having that special person to grow old with is a blessing.Comment

Don't get me wrong, we love to go out and have fun...but there are those days where it is just nice to sit on the couch, put on some shows/movies we like and just relax.

Re: The Pleasures of Life Thread
When my wife (whose parents, sister, and college friends all live in other states) spends a week visiting her family/friends leaving just me and the dog home. Love my wife, but it's nice to have a few days of quiet. Just me, the dog, and all the pizza & fast food that I can manage.Comment
