Re: OS Basketball Players Thread.
I like what VDusen did, with uploading a video highlight package.
I don't know why I hadn't thought of that. and if any of you other guys have video, I'd love to see it, as well.
This is my senior season highlight video. I know it's a bit lengthy (11 minutes), but I like to think it's well worth the watch. One thing I always loved, is that at least once a game, I always did something that got a collective "ooooh" from our crowd, and sometimes, from the opposing crowd; whether it be a pass, crossover, lay up, I even pulled the old Curly Neal dribbling display one time (at 8:12 in the video I posted..it wasn't intentional; I lost my footing while trying to stop). But, my favorite move was one I did at 5:40 in the video, and both crowds were "oooooh"ing, both benches were "oooooh"ing, and one of the players on the other team, on the court turned to me and was like "daaaamn".

Re: OS Basketball Players Thread.
I stopped playing Basketball a couple years ago... Seems tons of guys around here like to cut under you as you are coming down from your shot and like to make you land on their feet and sprain your ankle all the damn time. 10 High Ankle Sprains in a year = I'm good.Comment

Re: OS Basketball Players Thread.
I played the 3 and the 4 in JV in High School. I was wide and short so I got my share of rebounds, but never scored. It's amazing how far brains, positioning, and hustle will get you in basketball. I was only about 5'5 when I played, but would out jump and out hustle guys 6' for everything. I was basically a fat white Charles Oakley in a private school league, I can't shoot or dribble but I am a good passer, rebound and a good defensive guy. It's kind of funny because with all the shortcomings I have (smallest guy in my family, weight problems, etc.) basketball taught me to contribute to the team any way I can and it's not what you can't do but what you can.PSN:BrrbisBrrComment

Re: OS Basketball Players Thread.
I've played since I was 2. My dad always coached my brother's teams until he got to middle school and then coached mine. A 4 year difference in between me and my brother. I've played the 2 spot all those years even though I was bigger than most people when I was in elementary school. It paid off because I'm a deadly from behind the arc. Also, one of the best free throw shooters in my high school's history. Two knee surgeries between my junior and senior season pretty much killed any possibilities of playing after high school. Beginning of junior year I was 6'0" 190 lbs. and by the end of my senior year I was 6'2" 235 lbs. Also, my senior year I played with stress fractures in both of my legs about 3/4 of the season. Talk about an injury riddled career.
Summary: I'm a shooter and that's about it.Comment

Re: OS Basketball Players Thread.
I'm the stereotypical white basketball player.
I play defense, hustle, pass the ball, and make the occasional jumper
I only played in an actual league once last year since it was my senior year in HS and I no longer had football to worry about, i'm a solid 5'9" 170lbs lol. I wish I was taller just so I could do more work in the post.Saints, LSU, Seminoles, Pelicans, Marlins, LightningComment

Re: OS Basketball Players Thread.
I stand 6 Foot on the nose and weigh 170 pounds. My strengths are my post game and mid range shooting ability. My two most notable weaknesses are that my handles aren't the best and I try and force passes sometimes. I play pickup ball once a weak and I try to practice as much as my body allows me too. No Cartilage in the left knee plus my various arm issues tend to cause alot of pain especially if I attempt to play for long periods of time

Re: OS Basketball Players Thread.
It's called SCISA (South Carolina Independent School Association); all private schools, ranging 1A - 3A. We were 2A.
Not sure how many of you are familiar with Milton Jennings at Clemson, but he played in SCISA. One of the guys I played against in the video got a scholarship offer from Winthrop, and another got an offer to play at South Carolina, but didn't have the grades to get in.

Re: OS Basketball Players Thread.
6'8 235.
I was a face-up 4. The most common comparison I heard back in the day was Toni Kukoc though I wasn't that finesse and posted up a bit more.
The schools that were recruiting me were Notre Dame, Richmond, Old Dominion, Rhode Island and a bunch of low-majors.
Senior year of HS I had a fun freak accident on a two-handed dunk, came down real awkward (tried to hang on the rim on a fast break and my hands slipped) and basically jammed my spine how you'd jam your finger. The ensuing tests revealed that I had spondylosis and apparently this injury really brought it out or triggered it or whatever. That was pretty much all she wrote.
Senior year was done, didn't play AAU that summer which killed all the recruiting buzz I had, did a PG year to try to get some schools interested in me again but that didn't work out since I could barely play. I ended up taking a DII schollie but played in only 15 games in two years because my back got so bad and then hung up the sneaks. Haven't had a pain-free day in my back since I was 17.
