Agreed. The only time I've ever gotten close to getting in a fight mid-game was when I came down the court and pulled up for 3 right in this kid's face and started laughing on the way back down the court. Then he tried to come at me and I stripped him and he called a foul to save face and I started laughing again... he didn't take to kindly to that; had like 3 kids hold him back.

I love playing with kids at the rec center that act like gangsters, but stuff starts getting heated and they turn quiet reallllll quick.Comment

Re: OS Basketball Players Thread.
Happened to me at the local Y once, **** everything about them.
I was with my friends who are all on JV/Varsity at school. Even the ones on JV can hold their own.
It was me, 2 kids on JV, and our varsity point guard. We're going up against these 4 losers that graduated but still live with their parents and do nothing but work their dead-ends and workout at the Y. We're having a game that actually gets pretty heated.
One of my friends jacks up a shot and misses, a guy on their team who had to be at least in his mid 20s gets the rebound. Goes down, controls it. My friend who is the Varsity PG tries to strip it. He just barely knicks the dude's face. The guy immediately gets up and starts yelling "DUDE. WHAT THE HELL. WHY THE **** DO YOU HIT ME? HIT ME IN THE ****IN FACE NEXT TIME" to which one of my friends responds "bro, he didn't mean to" which is quickly followed by "I DIDN'T ****IN ASK YOU!"
The game heated up. It was only to 12 but it was intense. They didn't say anything after I hit a 3 right in the dudes face.
We won that game by 1 on a gamewinner by the kid that hit the guy in the face. We all walked out and left. Great feeling.Last edited by WyxHarmon; 03-23-2012, 01:29 PM.HoosiersPacersPhilliesRavens

Re: OS Basketball Players Thread.
I've only seen one fight in my entire life, on a basketball court
These two guys I was playing with had a long running history of not getting along.
They both went up for a rebound, came down in a jump ball/tie up, and both starting trying to throw the other one down, resulting in both ending up on the floor, and the chaos ensued.
All of us who were standing around watching, just let it go...we didn't really care for either one of them, anyway.
Both of them are two guys who CONSTANTLY ran their mouth at any and everyone...so, we had no love loss for either of them.

Re: OS Basketball Players Thread.
My senior year I wore an elbow pad (sometimes two). These days, occasionally I'll go through a wrist band phase where I'll wear a single sweatband on my left wrist. Otherwise, not much else.Comment

Re: OS Basketball Players Thread.
I used to wear a power balance bracelet on my left hand (only because my brother bought it for me as a gift, not because I believe in that stuff lol), but it ripped a few weeks ago. I haven't played since though because of how bad my thumb has been.
In high school, I had to play a few games with an IcyHot pack covering pretty much my entire back. That was interesting.NFL: Bills

Re: OS Basketball Players Thread.
During high school my senior year I wore sleeves on my legs to keep them compressed and help my stress fractures. I don't wear anything out of the ordinary when playing pick-up ball, other than a long sleeve shirt most days. I shoot better with long sleeves with some reason.Comment

Re: OS Basketball Players Thread.
The only accessories I ever wore (consistently) were when I was in 8th grade, the whole team wore wristbands on their forearms.
In 9th grade, I had a fractured elbow, so I wore a pad on my elbow for the first month and half of the season.
10th grade, I had a really severe high ankle sprain, so I wore an ankle brace all through that season. In 11th grade, when I joined the team, I wasn't wearing it, and I broke my ankle, so I usually either wore a brace or taped it for the rest of my high school career.
Now, I just wear a rubber bracelet (but I wear that all the time, anyway), and I wear the ankle brace and a knee brace.
When I'm feeling like a baller, I'll bust out a headband, occasionally.

Re: OS Basketball Players Thread.
Same here. I'm not a fan of talking trash. To be cliche, I let my game speak, for better or worse. More times than not, the folks I play against who run their mouth and truly believe what they're saying, are not having the effect they think they are.
Also, if something being said or done is repeatedly leading to bench clearing brawls, I feel it may be time to re-evaluate one's actions. Something is clearly going on beyond merely playing head games. Even if one feels that just means the trash talk is super effective, I think it might be time to dial it back and attempt to up the effectiveness of one's play instead.
Alabama then you can't back down from these kids. They come in with these attitudes like they're gonna punk you but I don't let that happen.NHL- Arizona Coyotes

Re: OS Basketball Players Thread.
Eh, I'm from suburbs but I played AAU with basically all kids that were from the hood and were all tough and stuff like that. They can talk **** to me all day. I like to think that my silence gets in their head when I'm locking down on kids and hitting 3's in their faces. And it feels especially good when they talk **** all game long and you come down and hit the game winner right over them.NFL: Bills
