What made you decide on. 40? Duty weapon or you like the round?

Home defense/ease my conscious when I move to an area I'm not familiar with here soon.

I am always open for more suggestions though.

I am also looking at the Sig Sauer SP2022. I think I want something with a switch safety and not just a trigger or pressure safety.

Ended up going with a Glock 23! Signed up for a beginners and CHL course as well. Haven't bought any ammo yet.

          I donno....I'm very indecisive.

I have a Glock 26, paid $380 for it gently used and it's great for concealed carry, although I have yet to get my CCW

Wife and I have both talked about buying a gun for our home. My brother in-law is a police man and we've asked him his advice. He said I should get a hand gun and a shot gun, don't remember which kind.

My wife and I both want to go to classes though.

I've had a few Glocks, but I'm just not a big fan of the safety on them. I miss my baby, the Springfield XDM .40. I fell in love with it.. traded a XD and some extras for it.

If I wasn't a gun enthusiast, I wouldn't even worry about anything crazy expensive. A well placed shot with anything will work, especially just for personal protection.

I'm that guy who will open carry, though.. lol.

All I've been able to get my hands on here was an M9 and I hate Berettas.. re qualified a few weeks ago and got my expert pin. I can't wait to get my M16 quals.

If there is anything ever designed to take the fun out of shooting an M16 (though I wouldn't be surprised if you guys used M4s now, they were still relatively rare for Marine grunt units a couple years ago [only officer, staff NCO and your couple squad leaders got the 4s]) it's snap in week and qual week.

God I dreaded those weeks, and shooting is one of my favorite things in the world. It was also the only time I got to use a 16 since I was our SAW gunner (the 249 then, think they're still using them unless they actually started the change to the IAR which a few of us got to test on the range in '11-12ish.) The M249s are a piece of ****, anyways, so hopefully they did. Fun as hell when they work, but getting them to work reliably was always an issue.

I learned my lesson. Buy all you can from gun shows. Went to my first one over the weekend and every booth (even the store I bought it from) had the Glock 23 for $40 less. Ended up getting 200 rounds of normal .40 and 20 rounds of hollow point for $98 total.

I reckon I'll transfer mine over as well.

My grandfather passed away in 1991. My grandmother held on to this revolver since then, then passed it on to me recently as it was given to me in his will. It's a 1941 .38 S&W. Original link and it still has the original checkered-walnut stock. The holster, a Bucheimer, wasn't issued with the revolver, but the notes say it was purchased in 1954 or 1955.

His father, my great-grandfather was issued the revolver in 1941 while serving for Great Britain. It is an American-made revolver, but was exported for the war effort. He later moved to America in the late 1940's.

Same thing I carry. I'd highly recommend a rubberized talon grip. Makes practicing at the range less brutal on the hands and makes the firearm much easier to maintain a solid grip on.

Make sure you select the rubberized grip if you are carrying it (which I assume you are). The granulate grip is basically sandpaper, and from experience, can be very uncomfortable against your body if you carry IWB.

I bought a 9mm Sig Sauer SP2022 on veterans day this past week. Pick up is Friday. I was initially eying the p226 and never even heard of the 2022. After I test shot both the 2022 is lighter with it's polymer frame, I shot more accurately with it, and it's $400 cheaper then the p226.
