    Re: OS Firearms Thread

While out in the woods today after I got off stand, I went scout some new area. Cane across a huge bedding area the deer were using and just a highway of tracks. Well on the way out I had to cross a ravine that was still soft but had no water. I stumbled across my first ever confirmation of a cougar in the area. The paw tracks were huge, about the size of my hand.

I believe he/she was stalking deer in the area.

Now I head to my tree 4am or so. Its pitch black walking through the deep woods. While im not scared, it has perked my interest in carrying a good size caliber pistol on my hip "just in case". Thinking about checking out some .45s.

The panoramic view from my stand here on my family's land in Claiborne County, Mississippi.

The rifle barrel to the right there is a .270.

I shot an M1 Garand for WW2 last week. Had rounds from 1944 too. It was crazy how loud and powerful it seemed, but didn't kick much. I couldn't imagine thousands of these going off around me. The rounds went in and out of 10" tree trunks.

My dad has a M1 and I shot it for the 1st time when I was 10 years old on New Years Eve. Very loud indeed, it was the loudest gun in our apartment building complex. People use to come out their apartments and walk over to ours and say what the hell is that ?

Can't be legal to be firing a M1 in an apartment complex lol

Pretty sure it wasn't, but cops rarely came to my hood. Growing up New Year's Eve was like an annual competition in my apartment complex. You had guys shooting everything there off the back porch, from AK-47's to shotguns to 357 magnums.

Looking back at it 25 years later in hindsight, I am surprised how much firepower people owned in that complex. That is probably why cops rarely came, we had way more firepower then they had.

After I test shot both the 2022 is lighter with it's polymer frame, I shot more accurately with it, and it's $400 cheaper then the p226.

I have this gun and love it. Easy to maintain and shoot, very accurate. Good choice.

Picked up a .35 Whelen to use for Rifle and Primitive weapon season.

Also if anyone is looking for a drop away rest for their bow, I have the new Trophy Ridge Revolution 2.0 for sale on ebay http://www.ebay.com/itm/151541711678...84.m1555.l2649

I ended up going with the ol trusty whisker biscuit instead of throwing this on.

I just got a Marlin XS7 .243 with a scope. Thinking I'm going to do some predator hunting next season.

The only thing that I don't like is the Mag release was set up for a lefty on mine. And I can't get the paperclip to disengage the lock to swap it to the other side. Once I get that free it's easy. But I can't get it to disengage.

Ended up buying a Remington 870 tonight for the mountain property my parents own. Black bears and mountain lions are active around the area so figured it's time to have some defense.

No pictures, need to oil the slide, etc.

I shot 4 boxes of shells on skeet, weekend before last in preparation for duck season. Shoulder was a bit bruised but I was on, smashing everything. Poor little ducks are not ready
