Re: Anyone here Vegan?
Hey guys, I'm 18 and have been vegan for about 2 years now (my decision). I've also been a vegetarian since I was about 3 (again, my decision). Anyone else on here vegan?

Re: Anyone here Vegan?
Yep, I remember it perfectly:
My mom and I went to my grandmother's house for one of her famous Sunday dinners. I had a plate of mashed potatoes, carrots, and spare-ribs. Out of curiosity I asked my mom "Where does meat come from?" and she told me that meat came from animals. I looked down at my plate and pushed it away lol. Now since then, there have been a few (rare) slips along the way, but I haven't eaten meat at all since 12. My mom realized early that the whole "You're not leaving this table until you finish your plate" stuff resulted in her and I sitting there for hours at a time lol. And 2 years ago when I found out the "truth" about milk, cheese, and eggs, I swore off those as well, and became vegan.Comment

Our bodies aren't meant to be herbivores, but to each their own. As far as dairy, I only go with organic, and local if possible. Same with my meats. That way I don't have to worry about any of that stuff.
And god, animals just taste so damn good.Comment

Re: Anyone here Vegan?
No.
Most vegans annoy me. I don't care what a person does or doesn't eat, but the way some vegans rub it in your face and think they're special annoys the hell out of me.Ohio State - Reds - Bengals - Blackhawks - BullsComment

I eat mostly vegan. And rockindamike is too I believe, as we had a brief discussion about it in the fitness thread.
And doc, as a vegan, many vegans annoy the hell out of me as well. Those who fit the joke "how do you know if someone's a vegan? - don't worry they'll tell you do tend to be annoying.
There are some cool vegans though. Myself, I'm not trying to convert anyone and view it as a dietary choice much more than a cause. Just like my religious beliefs, I am more than happy to talk to someone interested, but I seldom bring up either topic myself
Edit: not saying I'm cooler or better than other vegans or anyone in general, but certainly more laid back about it than many.

Re: Anyone here Vegan?
I don't have anything against vegans, EXCEPT for the ones who act like they are 20x better than you for being vegan (Not you).
Even after reading Fast Food Nation, there is no chance of me eating vegan/vegetarian. None.
Nothing against them, but it's something not for me.Football: Denver Broncos

And that too, while I certainly agree a lot of terrible things happen in factory farming, to those who have expressed interest in veganism to me, I typically steer towards health benefits and the research behind it. I feel like most people understand that factory farms are not a happy place for animals.
To those interested, I typically recommend trying it for a week or so and seeing what they think of it for themselves. Throwing animal slaughter videos in peoples faces just makes them defensive.
If anyone is legitimately curious though, check out forks over knives on netflix or online.
