Re: Anyone here Vegan?
While that is "technically" true, you are just trying to stir the pot.
It's a completely different thing and you damn well know it.
I don't eat meat. You do. I'm not the one with the problem with your diet.
But then again, you're the guy who admittedly tips $2 on a $50 tab at restaurants. Good stuff.Comment

Re: Anyone here Vegan?
Why do you have a problem with people not eating meat? It's like you take a offense to it or something. Why not give the same heat to someone who eats junk food or fast food everyday who's killing themselves?
I don't understand why you are in this thread insulting people who eat this way if you are so against it other than to troll. I'm living proof that this way of eating is healthy and I'm going to stick with it.Comment

Re: Anyone here Vegan?
Like others in this thread, I could never do the vegetarian thing let alone vegan as I love my meat and animal products. However, I eat very little red meat due to borderline high cholesterol and a family history of heart disease. Mostly stick to chicken and turkey.Last edited by BurghFan; 08-19-2012, 12:53 PM.Steelers : IX, X, XIII, XIV, XL, XLIII

Been doing a lot of reading/research on cholesterol...
And from what I have gathered, saturated fat and cholesterol levels are poorly correlated with heart health. A lot of the fallacy derived from a guy named Ancel Keys and his poor study which the lipid hypothesis evolved from.
Your body generates its own cholesterol. If you eat more, it makes less. If you eat less cholesterol, it produces more. What it really boils down to is inflammation and HDL levels of your body which is hard to increase if you're not taking in saturated fats.
There has been nothing that can conclusively show that lower cholesterol levels correlate with lower heart diaease. It all boils down to money, as cholesterol medication/statins are a top selling, if not the number 1 selling drug in pharmaceuticals.Comment

I know some vegetarians who eat fish. I understand health wise why you would eat fish but it's not really being a vegetarian.

Re: Anyone here Vegan?
Been eating a vegan diet for about 2 months now after watching a movie called "Forks over Knives" on netflix.
I had high blood pressure/cholesterol and I'm also diabetic. I used to take meds for high blood pressure/cholesterol and no longer take them since they are at healthy levels now. I used to take 3 meds for diabetes, that's been cut down to 1 now.
What is surprising is my energy and strength levels have improved since doing the diet. I thought I couldn't maintain my workouts but I actually do more now than ever before.
I'm not vegan but more power to you on your journey.Comment

Re: Anyone here Vegan?
People who do this "pescatarian" stuff just have a need to be labeled. "Oh, I'm a pescatarian, I don't eat meat or animals but fish is okay." No, you're just someone who eats fish but doesn't eat other animals. And that's cool. But you're not special. So just stop with the "pescatarian" stuff, LOL.Comment
