Is drinking a lot of milk healthy?

I drink a lot of milk. I can drink a half gallon of whole milk in a day, sometimes faster and was just wondering if there was a Heath risk involved.

Well, if you're drinking whole milk then you're getting all the fat and stuff from it so there's that. That does seem like a lot though. I only drink milk with breakfast (1% low fat) and a gallon generally lasts me 8-10 days.

Re: Is drinking a lot of milk healthy?

Cow's milk (especially whole milk) is absolutely terrible for you.

A half gallon of whole milk contains around 1150 calories (575 of which from fat), 65 grams of fat, 35 grams of saturated fat and 200 milligrams of cholesterol.

Basically, by drinking a half gallon of whole milk a day, you would get a pretty flabby belly in no time and never be able to lose it until you cut it out of your diet.

Damn, -_-. My bones are probably strong enough to bend steel though. I cut soda out of my diet and now it looks like milk needs to be cut out.

I don't think milk is healthy for you at all. And drinking milk and strong bones is IMO a big misconception.

Is it a coincidence that the highest rate of milk drinkers in the world (USA) is also the highest risk of having multiple sclerosis?

I don't like milk that much. Eat it with cereal or I drink it when I have an immediate need to kill off my heartburn. That's about it.

I'll randomly get a craving for milk though. Interestingly enough I don't care for chocolate or milk but I love chocolate milk. And I love strawberry milk.

                Eh.

I only eat cereal every so often, but when I do I use soy milk. Silk brand, original flavor.

Not only does it contain zero cholesterol or saturated fat, it also only has half the calories of cow's milk.

It also lasts a LOT longer in your refrigerator before spoiling since it doesn't contain animal products.

Plus, I think it tastes pretty damn good.

Do you have any thoughts about soy use in general? Hear a lot of mixed things. I like soy milk much more, but have been drinking almond milk recently bc I'm bot sure.

                        ^LMAO ok then.

Candyman too much of anything is bad for you; especially foods full of fat. So monitor yourself if you don't want the "benefits" of drinking so much of the stuff.

You don't need to completely cut it out, but switch to skim and regulate your intake a little. A glass of milk a day is great for you; it's a good source of protein, calcium, etc.

That said, a half gallon of whole milk EVERY day is just outrageous. Read the food labels man! All your info about calories and fat is right there.

You should try drinking a gallon of milk in 30 minutes or less to really get the health benefits.

I would say yes, considering you are arguing against milk making bones strong while bringing up a nervous system disorder. I would say genetics plays the bulk of the role in MS considering the places (based on your map) with the highest European risk just happens to be the largest ethnic source of the US/Canadian areas of highest risk.
