Re: Phobias
I used to have a phobia of having my blood pressure taken. I hated feeling the blood pulse through the artery. But I'm over that now......"You can not ensure success, but you can deserve it." - John Quincy Adams

Re: Phobias
When I was younger I ate a piece of chocolate with coconut in it from one of those assorted boxes and I had never had coconut before. It was so horrible that I threw up. Ever since then I can't be near it. I won't even go down the isle its in at a store it makes me scared I will throw up. Just typing about it making me uneasy.
I know it sounds totally crazy.Comment

Re: Phobias
I'm pretty introverted myself (as I would guess most people here are), so I don't exactly look forward to having to talk with someone I don't know, but it's not like a fear or anything.
EDIT: I'm asking because you said they were "debilitating" fears, and when you explained the coconut one and not even being able to go into the same aisle as one, I'd like to know how you deal with the fear I mentioned above.Chicago Bulls

Re: Phobias
Not totally crazy, I went camping with a friend once who had a real fear of tomatoes, especially if they had been cut into wedges and he could see the seeds. He was really uneasy over dinner, flinching and fidgeting, and eventually he went into his tent and wouldn't come out until we'd all finished.Steelers : IX, X, XIII, XIV, XL, XLIII

Re: Phobias
I'm not trying to be a smart-*** or anything, I'm completely serious: how do you meet new people? or what do you do when your forced in a position where you have to talk with someone you don't know?

So basically I fear it because I know I have a hard time dealing with it. So I would just rather avoid it. It sucks because I don't have a large circle of friends, but at the same time I am content with the ones I do have.Comment
