First off...are you seriously admonishing ME for posting in a thread that someone posted on the INTERNET about finding his sons condoms?

My reply was in refernece to his line that stated that he was "worried" his son was having sex.(or wanting/trying to)(as if he's not wanting/trying to at 16)

It has ZERO to do with what he should tell his son on what to do.
That is none of my or your business.

I don't know if you're a parent(you were obviously never a teenage boy)...but "these are my friends" is code for "you caught me at something I think you don't want me to do"

Obviously things get lost in translation in a forum. I didnt agree with your perception but go ahead and take your cool internet/forum jab. Im a parent of a 21 and 17 y.o. I never had intercourse in high school probably because of the manor in which I was raised. Turned out as a good thing. My kids seemed to draw from that. Doesnt always happen just one way.

I am in High School myself and it unfortunately happens all the time. There are some girls I would have never dreamed they would do this kind of stuff before marriage. FYI, my mom is a very formal lady and has already gave me condoms and I dont even have a girlfriend! I can definitely understand why your son would be interested in engaging in such acts though.

Girls are deceiving creatures, that's for damn sure.

I was too naive in High School. The girl you think would never have sex gets pregnant at 16 and then it opens everyone's eyes to what's really going on.

At the end of the day, kids are going to do what they want to do. It's just up to parents to educate them the best they can.

My parents never harped on me about anything or gave me condoms. I just went to Wal Mart and bought them.

I heard on the news that some schools in Philly are putting condom dispensers in the schools for kids as young as 14 years old.. crazy.

I think the earliest I remember becoming active being a topic amongst the boys was one of the kids I know got some at 12 or 13. He's obviously an outlier,but so was I waiting until I was 21 - but at that point I had a wonderful girlfriend for 5 years that was (and still is) waiting for marriage.

Then I joined the military and partied in places with women of questionable repute.

Regardless, you can't control him and attempts to do so would most likely end up worsening the situation. Just talk to him like the adult he is becoming and be real/promote safety if it must be done.

When I first had sex, my mother and her mother were both "on top of things" and "strict" about us being alone and stuff like that. That didn't stop us from finding ways.

I'm not saying to no trust your son with it, but it's completely possible that they are having sex. If he has your trust enough though, I see no reason why he's lying.

By the time I was 16 I was well versed on sex(information wise), The only talk he needs is that if he is going to have sex then wear a condom. You can tell him not to have sex but you really need to hit the point of wearing a condom home, that is the most important lesson. If they are 16 or 17 and they are not having sex then I would wager a dollar that they are probably doing other stuff.

Kids are going to have sex, if they dont in HS then they will in college. I dont have any regrets about sex in HS, college, or the Army. I was safe so it was awesome, Im just glad I had parents that stressed wearing a rubber.
