He's 16 and well..."experimenting" with condoms. To me it sounds like a good problem to have. I mean you were 16 years old once too, it's not that you don't know what it's like.

And it's not like you can stop anything from happening. If anything, (overly) strict parents only create sneaky kids. If you want to do anything about it, just encourage him to use them if he does decide to take things up with ole girl


If anything, just know my mom found out what I was doing when I was 15. She is the Chief Pediatric Nurse at an inner city Baton Rouge clinic, and was a former regular nurse at another inner city BR clinic during the 90's. She bust in my room, dumped literally a walmart bag full of condoms from work on my bed, and told me some nice little stats about the STD rate in Baton Rouge and shared a personal work story or two. Nothing you can tell your son is going to be as jarring/awkward as that.


edit: and she STILL does that to this day, a full four years later. I have more condoms than I know what to do with. I'm flattered that she thinks I'm getting it more than I actually am, I guess. I'd be more than happy to send you some that uhh...how can I elegantly state this? Well some that don't fit.

I would've left the condoms where they were and casually brought up the sex talk as if you didn't find them.

Seriously though, I would trust him and be as cool as possible. He is probably terrified now of what your thinking. ..at least I know I was when someone told my father I was active. It's a real tough spot to be in.

You sound like you're admonishing him and that as a parent, he only has one recourse to follow with this. He gets to raise his son how he chooses. Just because you CAN have sex at 16 doesn't automatically imply that you HAVE TO have sex at 16. Would you be saying the same thing if he was talking about his daughter? There are many complications that people overlook for the immediate and the future. Are you really promoting to him as a dad to let his son take the "natural course" and risk the chance of getting yet another teenage girl pregnant in this country/world? Perhaps he wants to teach his son something more important here than recreating a scene from one's favorite porno. Think it through.

However you do this, you don't want to start up something with the girl's mother since it is possible that the condoms were meant for someone else. Really needs to be thoroughly talked out.

My reply was in refernece to his line that stated that he was "worried" his son was having sex.(or wanting/trying to)(as if he's not wanting/trying to at 16)

It has ZERO to do with what he should tell his son on what to do.
That is none of my or your business.

I don't know if you're a parent(you were obviously never a teenage boy)...but "these are my friends" is code for "you caught me at something I think you don't want me to do"

I would be more worried about him not using them if anything. The fact that he has them means he's thinking about using them, but wasn't sure how.

My day showed me how to use them using his fingers when I was 16. I didn't even have a girlfriend at the time, but he was just doing his job.

If it were me, I'd just be worried about him being safe.

Man I don't have kids but I would congratulate him on being safe (or taking precaution of something went down) and leave it alone. Don't wanna cause any embarrassment to him by calling the girl over or the mom and discussing it. Just my 2 cents tho.....

Yeah at 17 years old I would probably take some solace in the fact that he's being safe (whatever the case may be). Calling the girls parents would probably be really embarrassing for both your son and his girlfriend.

We used that phrase a lot, my senior year of HS. I like the literal meaning, but it was also fun to use it to reference something else

Anytime we were going hard (partying throughout the week, doing something crazy, etc.) it was considered going "balls deep".

Ha, I watch their youtube channels they have, they are pretty funny. Those guys use to be fat and much more dark skinned 4 years ago. They been bleaching their skin.
