Old professors are the best. I had a geography teacher that was using the same handouts he used in the 80s. I know this because the USSR and countries like Yugoslavia were still on there.

I also had a world history professor that taught an entire lecture about the Middle Ages in full chain-mail armor while carrying an actual sword from that era. He also brought in battle axes, old money, and an actual Viking helmet. Picture Milton from Office Space, and Dwight Schrute meshed into one. Plus 30 years. He was awesome. Oh and he has a website! http://www.summahistorica.com/ There's a picture on there that only begins to describe how crazy this guy was.

There's so much greatness on that website that I don't even know where to begin.

-He calls himself "Professor Bob"
-He has a podcast episode named "Bob and Sheri Excellent Summer 2013 Vacation Day 1 and 2" because apparently he's Borat.
-
-If I want all his volumes of history I have to shell out 400 bucks.
-But free shipping WORLDWIDE!
-There are no questions or answers in the FAQ section.

I once had a professor come in the first day secretly dressed as a janitor and spontaneously started a lecture and shocked everybody, he then told us he was the number one Pirates vs Ninjas player on the planet (which apparently he was) then he hit us with an actual Saxophone solo for 5 minutes. Then he said "Welcome to Biology 101"


This was my first college class. It only set me up for disappointment with every other professor I ever had lol.

Professor Jason Wiles was the man.

He's an incredibly nice guy. Sheri is his wife, and like his entire world, other than teaching. She almost died of cancer when I was in his class, which was super sad. He's ****ing crazy, but he's one of my favorite professors ever.

Blake your parents for making too much money or yourself for either not doing well enough to qualify for scholarships/grants or not putting in the work to look for and apply for scholarships/grants.

This post grinds my ****ing gears quite a bit..

My parents didn't make enough to afford to pay for me to go to school. I would dive into their personal life and what they were doing at the time, but they really didn't and my family was really struggling. My mom and dad were beyond frustrated that they couldn't help me out.

My HS and then college counselor were useless. They pretty much hand you a folder of information and brush you off. Being an 18 year old kid trying to figure all that out was aggravating. I applied for everything on my own without their help.

Meanwhile, some girl who was irresponsible and got knocked up in high school who then had a kid could get the help they needed.

I'm not saying she didn't need it, just that the grant system is flawed.

What is this Pirates vs. Ninjas that your professor was so awesome at, king?

Because a game pitting pirates versus ninjas sounds like pretty much the greatest invention in the history of mankind.

I definitely regret not applying for more scholarships, but I'm fine with being in debt in order to have a career.

My only issue with the system is my parents made too much last year to get the pell grant which is something I understand. However my step dad lost his job like 2 months after I submitted my FAFSA so his new job paid less then he made the year before and therefore couldn't contribute

Because a game pitting pirates versus ninjas sounds like pretty much the greatest invention in the history of mankind.

I really dont know but he pulled up his facebook in class and showed us his doofy face at number one on some page. We were all just sitting there in confusion. I hadnt heard of it until that day. This is back in 2008 btw.

After doing a short search just now on pirates v ninjas, I think he was actually trolling us the whole time. Seems more like an inside joke than anything else.

I'm on my second official major...I would've stuck with my original (Sports Management), but Bloomsburg doesn't offer it and the money isn't good.

Hell, I have friends who changed their minds after they graduated college...one of them went for math education and does something that has nothing to do with that. Another got a degree in finance and works for a software company.

I'm just going to avoid the student loans conversation.

So far I've applied to 38 jobs within my company. None in Alabama/Mississippi/Tennessee/Florida. Ready to GTFO of the southeast unless it's Georgia.

Finally got around to watching Skyfall.

As big of a Bond fan as I am, I can't believe it's taken this long. I had plans to go watch it in the theater back when it was releasing and they all backfired on me.

I also think Casino Royale has finally met it's match in awesomeness.

I know some old schoolers don't like it, but modern James Bond with Daniel Craig has been pretty good.

Ironically, when I moved out here, my (now) wife flew out to Seattle to meet me so we could drive together to TN in my Dodge pickup.

Made it to Billings, MT and stayed the night. Then we continued east on I-90 and I was going to have us stay the night around Sioux Falls or so...but we stopped several places in that region and no one had any rooms? LOL

I was dead tired, we pulled into a parking lot for 30 minutes and I cat-napped but couldn't really sleep. So we got back on the road and continued south. We only went a little way before I conceded the wheel to her and I crashed out in the passenger seat almost all the way through Iowa. Breakfast just before we got out of Iowa, and drove the rest of the way to Memphis. What a ****ing haul that was.

That was in mid-July, 2003. Thank God for my truck's A/C but that was an incredibly hot and humid summer that year. The drive across Missouri helped me understand why my buddy calls it 'Misery' (still not as hot as Texas, though).

So...yeah. I've been to Billings...briefly...LOL.
