Yeah, that is what I meant, she decided on a new major 7 times. She is just lost with no sense of direction and quickly learning real life is not like it is on movies and tv shows.

This is like 80% of college students that early on. She'll figure it out as time goes on.

Also the 50 lbs in two months makes me think your niece must share the same eating habits as Fuu from Samurai Champloo:

Would you rather her "stick" with one that she isn't happy with, just because it was the first one she picked without any real knowledge of what the program entails?

I'd be okay with someone "switching" 100 times if that meant they had found something they really enjoy.

She just sounds stupid.

I have basically $3000 to work with for a semester for electricity, cable, food(no ramen screw that), car insurance, gas, things I need for my teaching etc. With that I have all my basic bills paid for, I go out/drink every weekend, made a trip to Panama City last weekend, and have enough set aside for a PS4.

It really doesn't bother me, just been a really stressful 24 hours. So in my frame of mind I was more annoyed by it. Life is short, can't rely on your parents as a safety net all the time. One day they are there, the next day they could be gone.

This is something I've been spending an unhealthy amount of time thinking about.

Neither of my parents take very good care of themselves. Don't eat healthy, no exercise, getting up there in age. Luckily neither smoke or drink.

But I'll see something on TV that triggers thoughts of one of them passing and can't get the bad thoughts out of my head.

Yeah I'm really worried about my parents. My mom is only late 30s, but she has Diabetes(it runs in the family, she was screwed) and has problems with putting off weight because of another health problem. My step-dad is early 40s and has incredibly high blood pressure, bad eating habits, overweight, and works to death. I've never lost a loved one so it's a thought that really hurts me sometimes.

Appreciate your fam fella's, and forgive them if they piss you off from time to time. Came back from college one day, and my dad had a stroke while I was gone. It can happen so fast, However he is in his 70's, so I guess something like that was due.

My dad is the kind of guy who beat the hell out of himself for thirty years and now it's taking it's toll. It seems like he's almost always in pain. I'm glad that he's taking care of himself now though, he still has a lot of life to live.

I think about it a lot. My mom parents both died in their early 40s. 10 years ago both of my parents took very ill at the same time. Just a month and a half ago my mom had a cancerous tumor on her hand that had to be removed. Little over a week ago my step son arm almost got pulled into a wood chipper, ended up breaking 2 bones in his forearm.

Hell my wife almost died on the operating table yesterday in the Boston VA. So yeah, I think about it quite often. Can't take things for granted that you can just put it off until tomorrow because they will always be there.

Before my mom's surgery, I didn't call my parents that often at all. Now I call every other day, some times every day.

I don't call my folks as often as I should, especially this year because I've been on stress overload and don't want to burden them with my ****. It's really easy for them to tell when I'm troubled so I try to stick with emails.
