Gatorade provides carbohydrates that can be used in short order specifically for immediate use, so when engaging in physical activity, products like Gatorade can be very useful.

That was 9th grade for us. 9th grade me was traumatized... I can't imagine what would have happened 8th grade me.

Water is not a key to everything. And I'm not claiming Gatorade is a key it either. But I have no idea how anybody can drink nothing but water and go under physical duress like that and still claim it is afterwards. It's an incredibly stupid way to go at it.

I didn't even mention the electrolytes and other benefits... mostly because I don't know much about how those work.

And your body doesn't lose those things fast enough for it to become an actual problem when doing physical activity.

Go to your doctor, ask him about this, and see what he says. They actually studied these things and know how the body works. I trust them more than anything

I've heard miraculous things about Deer Antler Spray, so I don't even know why we're having this Gatorade discussion when he could just use that.

Really? Because I've seen plenty of guys go through three quarters of football just fine and then all of a sudden go down with a cramp in the 4th.

Watson, you think I'm crazy, but you're acting like a Gatorade fanboy.

This is actual research with numbers to back up what I'm saying. It really only benefits extreme physical strain like a marathon, not just a simple football game

More children and teenagers are drinking sports drinks like Gatorade and Powerade, instead of soda. While that may sound like a good thing, new research from the University of Minnesota shows in most cases it's not a better option.

I know I don't play sports, but my weekly fluid intake is about like this..

                        70% water
                        20% alcohol
                        10% soda/tea

I lift 4 days a week and run a mile 2 of those days and I never cramp up.

I get a lot of the stuff you guys are so concerned about through my actual diet. My football coaches would have told me to shut the hell up if I asked for some gatorade after a long practice. If I wanted that, momma was gonna have to buy it.

                        Whatever works for you, though..

At the beginning of every football season we'd hold a scrimmage for which admission was a bottle of Gatorade/Powerade/etc. and after every Wednesday practice we'd get Gatorade after practice. Also, it was always on the sidelines during games. My coaches swore by it.

                              Problem number 1-
I play two games and then ref three more on Tuesday and Thursday Night
2- You don't "run out of" electrolytes. What happens is the number does decrease and under the duress you cramp up since your body is working with less minerals.

3- The issue isn't DURING the activity, it's stocking up BEFORE it. That's another misconception right there. You drink water during the early parts of the game, then around halftime you need to start switching up to gatorade and replacing the stuff you do lose.

Go to your doctor, ask him about this, and see what he says. They actually studied these things and know how the body works. I trust them more than anything
I'm not really sure how to break this to you, but I have. To my own doctor, my team doctor, and two team trainers. Going off of their advice, I have never cramped up.

I'd put serious consideration into going back to your doctor.
