I'm expecting snow next month, when I'm in Illinois. I'll be North of Chicago, essentially on Lake Michigan..

If not next month, I'm sure I'll see it before I leave.

You will be right near the Wisconsin borderline......You will definitely see it before you graduate boot camp. Navy boot camp still 9 weeks right ? So yeah you will see it, a lot of it. If you are lucky, you will get to feel -28 degree wind chill for the 1st time as well. More then likely you will just feel -16 degree wind chill.

Both are the norm for that area every year during the winter months, the -20s usually starts in January though.

I remember the last day of school in 8th grade it snowed a couple of inches....that woulda been the first week in June in 98.

This post makes me glad I don't live in Alaska anymore. We would have snow from October to April/May.

Pfft, don't even need to go that far north to get snow in that timeframe. Went to college in NW Pennsylvania in the snowbelt and we regularly had snow in October. In fact, they apparently got a nice coating yesterday according to a picture on their facebook page. May might be pushing it though, however I do remember it snowing on April 29 one year. I was walking across campus thinking "It's not supposed to be snowing the day before my birthday". Here in Pittsburgh, snow isn't uncommon in October, in fact we're supposed to have a few flurries this week. I do remember it snowing on Halloween at least one year too.

Yeah with snow that long and the fact it doesn't go away. It just keeps piling up and you add the very little sunlight. You tend to hate winter. Especially since I'm from Texas.

It snows here in July and August, several feet per day. Which sucks for us school kids, yes we go to school in summer, and we don't stop at grade 12, we go to grade 30, 18 hours a day.

I went out to leave for class today at 7:30am and didn't realize it was 47 degrees. Quickly went from bball shorts to pants and a hoodie.

Yeah I'm a Floridian, cold weather is probably normal weather for most.

I had to adjust quick man, haha used to live out in the destin area, I didn't even own a jacket in florida for a while.

EDIT: My fam laughed at me, everyone was in jeans and a jacket, and I arrive at the airport in shorts and flip flops

I was reading an article and found out some interesting facts about the Coast Guard


1. The Coast Guard rescued over 33,000 people during Katrina

2. The Navy's R&D budget is actually larger than the Coast Guard's entire budget.

3. The Coast Guard captures more cocaine than the DEA, FBI and all state and local law enforcement combined

Coast Guard and Navy were the only two branches I looked at.

My friend is in the coast guard, he was stationed in Alaska for a good while.

I couldn't date someone who has a kid. Which now a days seems difficult.

I've dated a few with a kid and it was fun both times, but it didn't go much further than a date or two. I was looking at FB today and apparently it's report card day because a lot of girls I'm friends with were posting their kid's grades. It made me feel old because I graduated with a few of them.
