I haven't played GTA V yet, but TLoU is the best single player game I've ever played.

Re: Uncommon Opinions
They're about even for me so far. The story of The Last of Us was amazing and so well done, that I don't think it will be topped to me. But the open world gameplay and the sheer number of things you can do in GTA is staggering.
They're very different games, and both are fantastic at what they do.Comment

Re: Uncommon Opinions
The Last of Us was great and all, but GTAV is the GOAT and I'm not even a third of the way through the game yet.
Then online is going to hit...Comment

Re: Uncommon Opinions
This is true. They are apples and oranges.
No game has ever grabbed my attention like TLoU did with the opening and the story and characters is what holds it up so high.
GTA is in another class of its own with the variety and depth it provides. When online opens up.... Oh my!Oakland Athletics San Jose Sharks

Re: Uncommon Opinions
I will say this. My enthusiasm for online has dampened slightly due to the server issues they've had with the iFruit app and Social Club. But I think we now know why they are keeping online closed for 2 weeks. They needed to see what they were getting themselves into.Comment

Re: Uncommon Opinions
Yea, exactly. I think it was smart business though. Let social club load become stable. I'm sure they're still gathering tons of info through the club for the first few weeks that hopefully smooths out GTAO. I'm sure it'll still have some bumps when it does release but we would never know how bad it could have been if it was already open.Oakland Athletics San Jose Sharks

Re: Uncommon Opinions
The one problem with The Last of Us for me is that it still has that while the story is fantastic, the gameplay is just slightly refined typical Naughty Dog fare. It was better than it was in UC3, but still a lot of wonky stuff that pops up from time to time. I don't have that same problem with GTA.

GTAV is stellar in gameplay, story, setting, and character as well as scope/variety. But it does have its own issues.Comment

Re: Uncommon Opinions
I imagine it's a lot easier making a linear game like TLoU than it is an open world with 100 times more gameplay elements for worry about.Comment

Re: Uncommon Opinions
In all honesty I think they both suffer from the same issues in their own way.
TLoU is pretty much what you guys said. A Naughty Dog game and we know what to expect.
GTA Vs issues are the same thing. The setting and characters are brilliantly done. The game suffers from FPS and texture issues but I give it a pass on that because we're talking a gigantic console game here. Personally I liked the driving in 4 better and after revisiting sleeping dogs the combat in that game blows GTA out of the water. Also the guns - GTA still suffers from horrid GTA shooting/feeling like a Nerf gun. However none of those gameplay systems are integral to what GTA is at it's core and they are all passable. Both games are fantastic achievements and act as the feather in the cap of current gen.badComment

Re: Uncommon Opinions
But none of the characters in GTA are kung fu masters; it wouldnt make sense for Michael to pull off the Sleeping Dogs fighting. I never understood that criticism.Comment

Re: Uncommon Opinions
You can still make it infinitely better than it is (and more fun to play) without making them kung fu masters.badComment
