Honestly, I have never thought of calling a drinking fountain a bubbler. Leaky Machine, Water Giver, hell, even Lapping Device would have come to mind before Bubbler.

    That's absolutely baffling to me.

Agreed. The 'dream' is increasingly difficult to obtain throughout the world, it's not just limited to the U.S. But we are still second in social mobility, just behind the U.K. and well ahead of other nations.

All things considered, I really do believe that this is still the greatest country that's ever existed and the dream is at least as achievable here as it is anywhere else.

/That's far as I am going to delve into that one.

There are exceptions to every rule and if they were the norm (or less than the one in a billion situations that they are), then no one would be impressed by their stories. For the vast majority of people, they will be in the exact same place that their parents were and it gets less and less likely that the next generation's economic situations will improve the further you go down the income scale. Upward mobility is almost non-existent.

I won't quote these articles since part of both have to do with politics but if anyone wants to see some statistics on social mobility look here and here.

True, but as they say in the article... For Danes to move from the 10th to the 90th percentile would be about 45000, in America that number is about 93000.

Too many factors in play here. Mobility is possible, but not as easy as most make it seem.

Its the same type of idea that's at play if any of you read about the lack of minorities in tech blogging/press industry arguments that happened a month or two ago. Obviously I can't go into a whole lotta detail on that - but like all things the truth lies somewhere in the middle of both sides of the argument.

Agreed and Parks and Rec Season 1 is just as bad as any season of The Office. I almost didn't give it another chance, it took me a couple of years to actually, but I'm glad I did.

Season 1 of Parks is horrible. Just blah.

Mad Men season two (Jet Set onward) through the end of Season 3 is my favorite stretch of any TV show.

As I've gotten older i feel like the Simpsons is pretty overrated and doesn't stand the test of time.

Right w/ you. Can't remember the last time I've watched an episode. I feel this way about Family Guy too.

The Cleveland Show > Family Guy.

South Park is still funny to me. They definitely have their fair share of misses, but overall I will literally LOL when watching.

The first 7-8 seasons of The Simpsons are still classic for me. I haven't watched a new episode in at least 5 years, though.

I never liked Family Guy. There are a couple moments that made me smile a little, but I have never laughed at that show.

I swear, South Park was on to something with the manatees and idea balls.

Their Tree House of Horrors were awesome though.
