I do not care to watch any Star Wars ever; haven't watched over 5 minutes of it in my life.

I hear ya. The constant marketing and obessive fans can make it easy to dislike the franchise, but that first movie is pretty fun on its own.

That's how I've felt pretty much my entire life, but I'm interested in this one because of J.J. Abrams. When the price was right at about $50, I thought I owed it to myself to see what all the hoopla was about.

I'll let you know in a couple weeks time.

What Kanye does is music...not "music". It may or may not be music you or I care for...but by definition, it is music.

Here's part of the problem... no matter what demo he puts out, anybody here would automatically say, "Nope, Kanye is better." He could be Eminem in disguise and people would say that. He could be Kanye West, and people would say that. Everybody automatically flocks to the celebrity.

It's like if you knew somebody before they were famous, either walking down the street or in the high school halls or whatever... never would have been given a second look. Then they become a pop artist or movie star, and suddenly random schmucks are like, "He's so hot!" or what have you. Take off the rose-colored glasses, or put them on more often. Call a spade a spade. You know what I'm trying to say.

Now, can this guy rap better? I don't know, he should prove it. But this would be so much better if we didn't know who either of them actually were, and just did a "Player A vs. Player B" kind of thing.

Ah yes, because words cannot express we have to resort to a meme as if to make it look like I am speaking nonsense.

What I said makes perfect sense. Sometimes people have subconscious thoughts that people are greater than they are because they know who they are, either as celebrities or what have you. This is the way life works. There are thousands of examples out there of this exact thing.

Actually, the exact opposite happens just as often, with people not rating something up despite the fact that what is right in front of them is the genuine article. What's that line from Lucky Number Slevin? "Charlie Chaplin once entered a Charlie Chaplin look-alike contest and came in third." If they knew CC was indeed himself, he would have won by a unanimous vote, don't ya think?

Anyway, no matter what he puts out, nobody is going to say he's better than Kanye. Not because he's not better, because nobody's going to say it.

Yet you had people agreeing Kanye's recent stuff isn't as good. You also don't have people saying he's the goat or best of anything like that.

That may be true, I just don't think people will let some "random person" beat Kanye. Because if we did, there is no valid reason we shouldn't be purchasing his material instead. I see what you mean though.

For the record, I hate the entire rap genre and most all music that is on FM radio today.

Kanye doesn't need to be an elite lyricist with his production skills the way they are. Plenty of skilled rappers will never make it simply because they aren't working with decent producers. And at least he's better on the mic than P Diddy, lol.
