Alright! Lets have a contest!

Who's gonna be cooking something up this weekend?
I wanna see pics!

The person who cooks something up on the grill, posts pictures and gets the most likes on those pictures, I will send them a $20 Home Depot gift card.
I can send via US Mail or via email, whichever you prefer.

You must post a picture of the food ON the grill, then ON the plate when its finished.
You may post as many pics as you like, but only one entry will win.
Anyone is eligible.
I will participate, but I will not accept a win.
You have 2 full weekends to do this.
The winner will be announced by me on Monday 4/15/13.
In the event of a tie, I will post the entrants for us to re-vote.
If there is still a tie, I will be the final tie-breaker.

FYI.. Both Home Depot and Lowes has the 2 pack 20lb Kingsford on sale for $12.88.

Time to stock on charcoal for the summertime!

Good catch, a little early this year. Usually happens every Memorial/Labor day.

Also prepped some pickled onions, basically a modified South Carolina BBQ sauce:

1c apple cider vinegar
1/3c dark brown sugar
1 tbs crushed red pepper
2 slivered dried peaches
1 heavy shot of applejack





Plus some pineapple-mango salsa (requested)




While making that, I thought about running up to the store and grabbing another chicken to jerk while smoking the other, just rub it down with this:

Yeah, I doubt I cook anything special since I'll be eating so much pulled pork during the week.

Edit: Oh, and those onions turned out pretty damn good. They did need less chili flake (I'm cool with it, but they were too hot for some). Overnight they pickled just enough to take away the raw onion bite, but were still crunchy, and they were a little sweet, a little spicy, a little vinegary, awesome on a sandwich.

After all was said and done this weekend, I grabbed some NY Strips and grilled them. Since it was extended to the 15th, I might do a smoke this weekend depending on time and weather. Otherwise I'll post the steak pics.

Last weekend was gardening weekend and I'd just had my teeth whitened (so couldn't eat stuff that would stain for a few days).

Not sure my plans this weekend, but if I grill something I'll let you know. We've been grilling, but basic burgers aren't really competition lol
