re: Official OS BBQ/Grilling Thread
I finally was able to grill Monday night with the weather being halfway decent. It was also the first time I used my new Weber charcoal chimney and Wow! that thing is awesome.
I barely used any charcoal and it got the charcoal ready in 15 minutes max. I made some black & bleu burgers and they were amazing. No lighter fluid taste/smell (I used the little white cubes to start the coals instead of newspaper).
In fact, the coals were ready so fast and the burgers were done before any of the sides which NEVER happens. It was crazy. I don't know that I could have cooked a meal that fast. I don't even think my oven can warm up that fast!
I think I paid like $15 or $20 for the chimney but thank you to this thread and the guys who mentioned/suggested it.Comment

I took your advice and used the starter cubes and it was pretty awesome. The flame climbed up through the coals in about two minutes.Comment

Good deal man. They've never failed me. With newspaper, I would sometimes have to add more paper to get the charcoal as hot as I want.Comment

Had some friends over and cooked up some Rib-Eyes, Swordfish, and Linguica. Also did a mixed grill veggie skewer. The wife made some pilaf. I'll get the pics up after work.Originally posted by Anthony BourdainThe celebrity chef culture is a remarkable and admittedly annoying phenomenon. Yeah they we're really good. Perfect medium rare. And yeah I don't have one of those starter things. It's on the list of things to get but it's really low on that list. Doesn't matter anyway. As long as you wait for your coals to ash you're good to go.Originally posted by Anthony BourdainThe celebrity chef culture is a remarkable and admittedly annoying phenomenon. Yeah, you buy a chimney starter for 10 bucks and it ends up saving you a boat load down the road because you no loner need any lighter fluid.Comment
