That's just cheap though, c.

re: Official OS BBQ/Grilling Thread
My first meal with my new grill (had to buy one here in Germany) was simple burgers just to get a feel for the charcoal, the grill etc.. They turned out great but cooked a little slower then I anticipated. Over here, the bottom vents on the smokey joe are on the sides above the charcoal rather then below the charcoal like the American version my brother has. Definitely going to take some time to get my timings down again but hey, the process is half the fun. Plus, there is more time out by the grill to drink beer

Man I'm driving myself nuts trying to decide on a charcoal grill. Some of the webers look nice but I'm afraid they're too small for some of my grilling needs. I already have an older small weber and it would probably be hard to convince the ol' lady to get a new one that looks exactly the same to her. On the other hand Lowes has some master forge grills that look good and have good reviews but all it takes is one bad review about rust or something and I start doubting it even though I probably shouldn't.Battle.net: xXKING08Xx

re: Official OS BBQ/Grilling Thread
When I was looking into covers for my grill (my options were limited as there is only one cover that fits it) I read reviews of the one I bought that were terrible. Like I said unless I made my own I had no choice. Anyway the biggest complaint seemed to be dry rot after only one season. Well I've had my cover for two years now and it's nearly in perfect shape. However, like we talked about before, I take care of my stuff. I keep it folded in my shed during grilling season and keep a nice coat of armor all on it during the of-season.
My point is, if there are 50 good reviews and 2 bad ones, the bad ones were probably from people who expect to let their stuff sit in the elements year round with out doing a little preventive maintenence.Originally posted by Anthony BourdainThe celebrity chef culture is a remarkable and admittedly annoying phenomenon. re: Official OS BBQ/Grilling Thread
It's amazing but the sun down here destroys grill covers. One usually lasts half a summer since it's out in the sun all day. It starts to crack and then eventually rips when I go to take it off. I probably just need to be more gentle with them though. This is the master forge I'm leaning towards at the moment.
Edit: Just saw your post Matt, the armor all sounds like a great idea. Never even thought of that. I agree with you on the review thing.Last edited by 8; 04-17-2013, 11:41 AM.Battle.net: xXKING08Xx

re: Official OS BBQ/Grilling Thread
It really depends on the quality of the cover. If it's more of a vinyl cover, you'll be lucky to make it through a summer down south. I bought my grill and cover from Sam's Club. The cover itself is top notch and has lasted for years now. Slightly faded but no rips or tears at all. It's amazing but the sun down here destroys grill covers. Take a look at Sam's if you're a member and one is nearby. Really good deals there and their warranty is top notch.Comment
