Re: Official OS BBQ/Grilling Thread
Man, don't know how I've missed this thread. Grilling and drinking a cold beer on my deck is one of my favorite things to do.
Looking forward to reading this thread!

Re: Official OS BBQ/Grilling Thread
I had something like this in mind: http://www.amazon.com/Char-Griller-2...=operasport-20.
Once warmer weather starts coming back then I'll start hovering around Lowes and see what they have.
That looks nice. my only warning to you would be to check it out before you buy it if you can.
Walmart sells a really nice looking grill, until you touch it. It feels like a flimsy piece of metal that you can almost tear with your bare hands.Comment

Oh yeah definitely. A grill is one of the few purchases I have to make in person.

Re: Official OS BBQ/Grilling Thread
He's right...you can just tell if it's crap metal or not.
Question for you guys, I really need to clean my grill. I was going to use the Lysol/Clorox type wipes for the outside and otherwise just water/scrubbing. Anything I really need to do?
Just gets dirty on the outside and figure I should clean out the gas jets and covers and all that eventually....
Oh yeah, it's a 4 burner gas grill...

Winter Grilling

Originally posted by Weber.comBrrrrrrr. It's getting awfully chilly out there. Everyone in my neighborhood, myself included, have been dusting off our snow shovels and breaking out the winter gear so we can dig out after each big storm. And as we all dig out our houses, there's one very important thing that no Weber lover should forget: Clear off that grill! Yep, you heard me. I know many believe that wintertime means grilling time is over, but that couldn't be further from the truth. Grilling is a year-round event and I for one love the ritual and excitement of bundling up and then firing up...........Comment

Re: Official OS BBQ/Grilling Thread
I love my chargriller. I have the duo. For "pro-smoker-status" the one I have needs some mods but I absolutely love it for home grilling and smoking. But if I were to enter a comp there are a few mods I'd make to the smoker box and chamber.
But for everyday use 8 outta 10 for me.Originally posted by Anthony BourdainThe celebrity chef culture is a remarkable and admittedly annoying phenomenon. Official OS BBQ/Grilling Thread
Time to reveal my BBQ project I've been working on for awhile. It's an automatic temperature control system using a raspberry pi. Here is a pic of the computer boards

Here is a pic of the raspberry pi with the LCD mounted on it

Here is the 3d printed case for it.

Here is the whole thing put together and turned on with one probe in, it can take up to four probes.

Here is the fan connected which connects directly to my weber smoker to control a set temp.

Here is a pic of the web interface which I can access from anywhere via a web browser and can monitor/control the pit temp.

Haven't had a chance to use it yet but I'm really excited.

Re: Official OS BBQ/Grilling Thread
It really wasn't that difficult. I just followed some directions from a BBQ site that I visit. You have to solder on all the resistors and capacitors to the computer board and splice some wires. The web page and program to run it go on an SD card.
