No pictures but father in law seasoned the smoker and grilled a brisket on it. We've been eating it every other day for damn near a week. Omg.

Don't spoil yourself. My brother's father in law (my uncle in law?) travels around Texas doing cookouts. I laugh when people try to tell me that so and so place has the best BBQ ever.

I'm going to do a pork loin on the grill for the first time this evening. Any suggestions on how to grill it?

So far I've been told to grill it on indirect heat until it gets to 150F and then to take it off and wrap it loosely in foil until it gets to 160F.

How does one go about seasoning a smoker?

              You basically smoke the smoker.

Cook in it as if you were actually cooking something. but dont cook anything.
This coats your grill/smoker with smoke & soot and keeps flavors in the grill.
Some use oils, some use seasonings some just use charcoal.
Often new grills can give of a paint odor and/or taste. So you need to season or cure your grill before using it.

                Question for all you smokers:

I'm thinking of buying a Char-Griller charcoal grill and possibly the firebox attachment for smoking. Is this a route you guys would recommend or would you steer clear from it?

Ultimately, I want a smoker too, but the priority this year is simply a bigger grill than my Weber kettle. I wouldn't mind a stand alone smoker, but we honestly have very meat storage here so I feel like the firebox would be adequate unless I can find something priced reasonably.

Another idea would be to turn my kettle into a smoker, but I have no idea how I would accomplish that.

                What are your ideas, guys?

I see no need for a specific smoker unless thats what you really want. You can smoke with any grill.

Hell, you can even smoke on the stovetop in your kitchen. You dont NEED a smoker.

Its all a matter of choice.

I'd just use my Weber kettle as a smoker before I'd buy a grill with a firebox. That's just my opinion though.

I'm a big fan of my Weber Smokey Mountain smoker. I can smoke 8+ butts on it if needed. If you're just smoking a butt or a couple slabs of ribs, then your Weber kettle will do the trick.

Don't you just put the meat on one side of the grill (under the vent), and put the charcoal on the opposite side to smoke in a normal grill?
