Had my Masterbuild smoker working today. Smoked some turkey legs, chicken and smoked some loaded scalloped potatos with broccoli and bacon. Turned out really good.

I picked up a Kamado Joe (Big Green Egg knock off or competitor...still not sure) at Costco this weekend and broke it in yesterday by smoking a pork shoulder.

I've been doing some research on both for quite a bit and finally pulled the trigger since Costco was having a pretty good deal on them.

Couldn't be happier after the first attempt. Woke up at 6:30 and fired it up. Had temp right at 250 by 7:00AM. Temperature held constant without any modification whatsoever well after I was done... until almost 5:00PM. Was able to pull the shoulder off and smoke some chicken breasts after.

Don't have any pictures, but the bone pulled out clean, meat was super tender and flavorful and everyone was impressed.

I grilled steaks but they were unimpressive. I didn't wanna embarrass myself. Lol

I used to like bone in cuts, but lately I've found myself going for boneless. A more even cook on my charcoal grill.

I'm gonna have to look more into this smoking technique. I love using the crock pot to slow cook food over a day, seems like smoking is the grill equivalent to that (kinda sorta). Who doesn't love the fall off the bone BBQ they've had? About time I tried it myself. I'm getting tired of just steaks or burgers. Wanna mix in some pork and chicken. Maybe with some of this incoming wedding money I can persuade my fiancé to go for it.

Honestly, it's not hard just as long as you get your heat up to the right temperature range and keep it there over however long you need it.

I've been smoking chicken breasts the past couple of weeks and 45-55 minutes is good for tender, juicy bites.

Sunday I marinated 4.5lbs of chicken breasts in a mixure of pineapple sauce, soy sauce, garlic, and brown sugar for about 5-6 hours. Got the grill going and smoked them using hickory chunks for a little under an hour flipping them halfway through the process.

Before I took the chicken off I grilled slices of pineapple and toasted kaiser rolls.

Bottom half of bun + mayo or cream cheese spread + pineapple + chicken + provolone + top half of bun = Glory, glory, hallelujah.

I've got a smoker sitting here that my father-in-law bought me but I've been too scared/lazy to learn how to use it. I haven't even made anything over charcoal before. Have a chimney starter and everything.

Tack on a cholesterol check putting me north of 300 and I've got to reevaluate a lot of the stuff I'd throw at it anyways

That does sound pretty glorious. What temp are you smoking your breasts at?

275-325. Typically it stays in that 275 range, though.

Didn't grill anything too spectacular this weekend but it all turned out great.

BBQ Boneless Chicken thighs and a thick cut pork chop BBQ'ed for the UGA/Clemson game Saturday evening.

Grilled a tri tip last night, made steak sammiches out of it. Should have took some pics, it was delicious.

I plan on dusting off the ol' Weber Smokey Mountain smoker this weekend and do some boston butt and hash/stew. Been months since I've used it, no better time than NFL opening weekend.
